The  Mediterranean Award Special Edition 2011 – City for Peace was attributed to the mayor  of  Naples Luigi de Magistris.
The Awarding ceremony took place on Friday  23rd September 2011 in the Sala Giunta of San Giacomo Palace.
The award was given by Pia Molinari  and Michele Capasso.
« A sign of esteem and challenge so that, under the direction of the Mayor Luigi de Magistris, the European Thought and the Mediterranean Spirit may be realised through a renewal of the City of Naples based on active competence and social involvement ».
This is the main reason which pushed the international Jury of the « Mediterranean Award » - made up of representatives of 43 Euro-Mediterranean Countries- to confer on the City of Naples and on the Mayor Luigi  de Magistris the « Special Edition 2011 – City for Peace »  of the Award, considered as one of the most prestigious at the international level and « attributed every two years  to personalities and institutions which have given a strong  contribution to the dissemination of culture and of social solidarity ».
In the previous editions the « Mediterranean Award Special Edition » was attributed, among others, to the Nobel Prize-winner Naguib Mahfouz, to Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan, to the  Fez Festival of World Sacred Music.

The  Mediterranean Award for Interfaith Dialogue  was attributed to  Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino.
The Awarding ceremony took place on Friday 23rd September 2011 at the Sala Giunta of San Giacomo Palace.
The award was given by Senator Leonzio Borea and by the mayor of Pietrelcina Domenico Masone.
On that occasion, on the very day of San Pio celebration, a memorandum of understanding was signed by the Commune of Pietrelcina and the Fondazione Mediterraneo, according to which every year there will be meetings on interfaith dialogue and the prize-giving ceremony for this section of the Award will be held  every year at Pietrelcina, with the name of  “  Mediterranean Award San Pio da Pietrelcina for Inter-faith Dialogue”.

The ”Silver Dolphin” Mediterranean Award Special Edition 2011 was conferred on Giovanni Morra’s  Bagno Elena.  
The Awarding ceremony took place on Friday  23rd September 2011  at Bagno Elena.
The award was given by  Michele Capasso.
«Thanks to the active and silent engagement of Giovanni Morra and his children Mario and Antonella, the BAGNO ELENA at Posillipo - with TERME PAUSYLIA -  is a  unique and precious place for well-being and life quality:  it is the example of a family which is confident in the renascence of Neapolitan entrepreneurial class and which, by its love for the sea, continues the tradition of the bathing establishments on piles. This  important action is an example for the tourist renascence of Naples and for the preservation of  “Sea Resource”.
This is the main reason which pushed the international Jury of the « Mediterranean Award » - made up of representatives of 43 Euro-Mediterranean Countries- to confer on Giovanni Morra’s Bagno Elena the  «Silver Dolphin-  Special Edition 2011» of the Award, which is    considered one of the most prestigious at the international level.

The  ”Silver Dolphin” Mediterranean Award 2011 for well-being and life quality has been conferred on Emanuele Vittorio.
The Awarding ceremony took place on Friday  23rd September 2011  at Bagno Elena.
The award was given by  Michele Capasso.
« For his action in favour of common well-being, through the accurate and rigorous practice of his  profession of dentist.
For his active competence, solidarity and his constant struggle against difficulties which are  unsurmountable for others.
The attention towards indigent persons and his continuous research on advanced medical techniques have allowed to solve complex problems and restore dignity and life quality, with particular attention to the poorest”.
This is the main reason for conferring the award.

The “Medal Honour” of the Mediterranean Award 2011 for publishing  has been conferred on  Rosario Bianco.
The Awarding ceremony took place on Friday  23rd September 2011 at Bagno Elena.
The award was given by  Michele Capasso.
