Since 1994 Fondazione Mediterraneo acts to promote seminars, conferences, publications and other activities to spread new studies on scientific and technological innovations.

The Fondazione has recently launched the Appeal for Culture and Research and it has also created the Mediterranean Award for Science and Research assigned every year to personalities who contributed to the development of new technologies for a useful and sustainable development.

The December edition of the EUROMESCO Newsletter has been published, The Fondazione Mediterraneo is also a member of EUROMESCO.

The Newsletter

The Annual General and Extraordinary Meeting of the “Euromesco” network of international politics institutes took place at the IEMED headquarters in Barcelona.

On that occasion, the Activities Report was discussed and approved as was the Report on the Action Plan for 2012-2014. Prof. Bichara Khader was confirmed as President of the Steering Committee, Director of the Centre of Studies and Research on the Contemporary Arab World (Belgium) and member of the Fondazione Mediterraneo.

The Fondazione Mediterraneo has been a member of Euromesco since 2006 and attended  the Assembly thanks to the participation of its President Michele Capasso, who suggested drafting  a summary weekly Newsletter – with one page in English, one in French, Arabic, Russian and Chinese, respectively to be disseminated worldwide.

The International Conference on Sustainable Development in the Mediterranean Area took place at the seat of the Fondazione Mediterraneo. The Conference was organized by CITTAM (Università Federico II) in collaboration, among others, with the Fondazione Mediterraneo.
President Michele Capasso, Professors Dora Francese and  Virginia Gangemi were among the international guests who spoke at the inaugural session.

The General and Extraordinary  Assembly of  “Euromesco”, the network of International Policy Institutes was held in Barcelona, in the seat of the Union for the Mediterranean.
On that occasion there was the  ratification of “Euromesco” Charter  as well as the analysis of the  activities planned for 2012, taking into account the events occurred on the Southern shore of the  Mediterranean.
The Fondazione Mediterraneo, member of Euromesco since 2006,  participated in the Assembly with President Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari, member of the board.

The Euromesco annual conference entitled A new Mediterranean political landscape? was held in Barcelona, in the seat of the Union for the Mediterranean.
The Arab Spring and Euro-Mediterranean relations
The Fondazione Mediterraneo, member of Euromesco since 2006, participated in the Assembly with President Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari, member of the board: in their interventions they stressed the urgency to give space to young people through a less academic language so that they may easily understand the analyses and strategies wished by the Countries of the Southern Shore protagonists of “Arab Spring”.
