Combatants for Peace is the winner of the Euromed Award 2009, bestowed on September 21st in Stockholm, on the occasion of the Forum "Restore Trust, Rebuild Bridges", organized by Anna Lindh Foundation and Fondazione Mediterraneo.

Combatants for Peace is a civil movement jointly established by Palestinian and Israeli individuals, it has gained recognition for promoting a peaceful and right solution to the conflict through dialogue and non-violent means.

History in Action,
a group of 55 transnational and inter-ethnic team of historians and history educators from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia who succeeded in overcoming ethnic, religious, linguistic divisions in order to elaborate a common history textbook for the region, received a special mention.

The Awarding Cermony for the "Mediterranean Istitutions Award 2009" and the title of "Ambassador of the United States of the World" assigned to the President of the Portuguese Republic, Anibal Cavaco Silva took place on June the 12th in Naples.

The President of Fondazione Mediterraneo (FM), Michele Capasso welcomed the Portuguese President and his wife in the Maison de la Méditerranée and then delivered a speech in which he rembered his ties and those of the FM with Portugal.

Before the delivery of the Award, received by the President of Regione Campania Antonio Bassolino , the President Silva inaugurated the "Lisbon Terrace" of the Maison de la Méditerranée.

The Mediterranean Award "Silver Dolphin" 2009 to the memory of Professor Ahmed Jebli, ex President of University Cadi Ayyad in Marrakesh, was bestowed to Mohammed Marzak, new President of the University.

President Michele Capasso and the Jury decided to assign the award to the memory of prof. Jebli who died last year. Prof. Jebli contributed to establish the Seat of Marrakech of the Accademia del Mediterraneo and thanks to his collaboration the Fondazione Mediterraneo developed many partnership projects as for example the Chaire Averroès.
