On the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of the Totem for Peace, by the Italian sculptor Mario Molinari at the Farnesina, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem H.B. Mons. Fouad Twal announced the future realization of the "Totem for Peace" in the Holy Land, near the Baptism Font site, where a new church is been built and where the flow of the pilgrims and visitors is among the highest in the world.

On Wednesday the 13th October 2010 at 5,15 p.m. in Rome at Palazzo della Farnesina - Ministry of Foreign Affairs - it has been held the inauguration ceremony of the Totem for Peace, by the sculptor Mario Molinari, that Fondazione Mediterraneo is spreading all over the world creating the network "Cities for Peace”.

THE TOTEM FOR PEACE AT THE FARNESINA WAS DEVOTED TO THE ITALIAN SOLDIERS FALLEN IN AFGHANISTAN.

On this occasion, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem H.B. Mons. Fouad Twal announced the future realization of the "Totem for Peace" in the Holy Land, near the Baptism Font site, where a new church is been built and where the flow of the pilgrims and visitors is among the highest in the world.

Farnesina becomes the symbol of Peace by the solemn ceremony of the inauguration of the Totem for Peace, original work by Molinari. The monument was devoted to the Italian soldiers fallen for Peace and was blessed by H.B. Mons. Fouad Twal, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.

The ceremony was attended by: Ambassadors from Euro-Mediterranean Countries; Bishops and Archbishops from different Countries of the World; the Mayors from the "Cities for Peace" and from the Farnesina the Under-secretary of State Stefania Craxi, the General Manager Giovan Battista Verderame, the Permanent Under-secretary Sandro De Bernardin, the Vice Permanent Under-secretary Vincenza Lo Monaco and Mario Sammartino and others officers.

Fondazione Mediterraneo assigned the title of “Peace-builder”, signed by the Under-secretary of State Stefania Craxi, the President of Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso and H.B. Mons. Fouad Twal, to the memory of the Italian soldiers fallen in Afghanistan who sacrificed their live sto defend democracy and human rights.
