During a meeting with the Advisory Board of the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF), the president Elisabeth Guigou supported the proposals formulated by the president Michele Capasso – member of the Advisory Board representing Italy – in order to put migrants, children and women in the center of the forthcoming actions of ALF. Among the proposals there is an app dedicated to migrants to assist them integrating in the recipient countries, to create initiatives for youth and an enforcement of the communication between the members of the ALF itself.

The executive director of Farnesina ambassador Hatem Atallah, along with the member of Advisory Board of Anna Lindh Foundation (FAL) – the Euro-Mediterranean network which gathers 42 countries - paid homage to the “Totem of Peace”: art work by the sculptor Mario Molinari which the Fondazione Mediterraneo (in partnership with International institutions, among which there is also ALF) is spreading all over the world as symbol of peace and cooperation among populations.
The “Totem of Peace” in the Farnesina is the first to be realized and inaugurated in 2010 at the presence of exponents coming all over the world.

The newly appointed Advisory Council of the Anna Lindh Mediterranean Foundation for Dialogue, composed by 42 countries of the Union for the Mediterranean (Upm), has been hosted in the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, inaugurated by the Undersecretary  Mario Giro at the presence of the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, Stefania Giannini and the Executive Director of Anna Lindh Foundation Ambassador Hatem Atallah.
"Peace and stability in the Mediterranean area are priorities for Italy which strongly believes in the cooperation among the two shores of the Mediterranean” declared Giro in his opening speech. “Italy supports for years the activity of the Foundation in the face of the regional challenge of extremism and radicalisation. The Anna Lindh Foundation activity is important in order to change the narrative about our region today, bringing new inputs for the partnership between the two shores of Mediterranean and bringing civil society into the heart of this partnership” declared the Under Secretary, highlighting how much the European foreign policy should strengthen its action for the southern neighbourhood.

The Council, chaired by Elisabeth Guigou, parliamentary of the National Assembly and President of the Foreign Affair, is composed of important exponents coming from Europe and countries from the South shore of Mediterranean, and is in charge of the strategic direction of Fondazione: Italy is represented by the prof. Michele Capasso, president of Fondazione Mediterraneo which gave a crucial contribute to the development of Anna Lindh since 2002.

The topic on the agenda was the role of Anna Lindh Foundation, as reference point for intercultural dialogue, especially in the regional challenge to extremism and refugees crisis.

The President Elisabeth Guigou highlighted how in the Mediterranean area there is a convergence of values and the extremists who push for the clash are just a minority. The foundation has the aim of encourage the silent majority to let heard its voice. The proposal made by president Capasso has been welcomed and among the forthcoming actions being discussed is a regional program of communication aimed at providing migrants and youth leaders with the skills, tools and platforms to have a voice and create a counter-media narrative in the face of the negative trends impacting in the region, also taking in account programs already successfully carried on in Egypt (Young Citizens for Dialogue), as antidote against extremist tendencies.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation hosted the General Assembly of RIDE: “Italian Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation for Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue” which brings together bodies, institutions and organizations which have been involved for years in the construction of dialogue and peace in the Euro – Mediterranean area and among all of them the  Fondazione Mediterraneo
is remarkable. The Min.Pl. Enrico Granara and the hon. President of RIDE Michele Capasso coordinated the meeting.
The president of Anna Lindh Foundation Elisabeth Guigou joined the meeting praising the role of Italian network and its fundamental contribution in the establishment and development of Anna Lindh Foundation.
The necessity of dialogue between Islamic-Arabic world and Western was on the agenda, in the same day of the anniversary of New York attack.
“Thousands of human beings are meandering in the heart of Europe in the last few years - has declared the president Michele Capasso – and this is the most beautiful thing that I had occasion to experience.  For decades the voice of people was entrusted to political exponents, which were ex pressing only their interests, fears, secret agreements, hypocrisy, hate and selfishness. And now, before a epochal tragedy which involve and will involves everybody, different populations discovered that their lives have sense just if we recognize the pleasure and the richness of live together.
In conclusion the members of  RIDE met the Advisory Board of Anna Lindh Foundation and the ambassador Executive Director Hatem Atallah.
On this occasion, the Fondazione Mediterraneo was elected Head of the Italian Network for the period 11.09.2015 - 11.09.2018.

It took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation the General Assembly of RIDE: the “Italian Network for Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue” established by the Ministry along with organizations and associations which are involved for years in the building of dialogue and peace in the Euro-Mediterranean space and among them the Fondazione Mediterraneo deserves particular mention.
In this occasion the Assembly appointed, unanimously, the Executive Board which will be on charge until October 2017 and will composed by the following members:
