NAPLES OPEN PORT 2019: THE TOTEM OF PEACE REFUGEES SYMBOL

On the occasion of the "Napoli Porto Aperto" event, the "Totem of Peace" (Molinari sculptor) with the urn of the Unknown Migrant becomes the symbol of the refugees who launch an appeal against the closure of ports, for a reception and integration policy of all those escaping from wars.
The "Totem of Peace" - which the Fondazione Mediterraneo is spreading all over the world - increasingly represents refugees, the weak, the poor and those who are victims of injustice and illegality.
In particular, the monumental work carried out in front of the Maritime Station of the Port of Naples - donated to the Coast Guard Corps on the occasion of the 150th anniversary - contains the relics of the Unknown Migrant, brought by the officers of the Coast Guard of Lampedusa the March 21, 2015 in the presence of Pope Francis.

The "Medal of Honor Institutions" of the MEDITERRANEAN AWARD was awarded by the international juries to General Pasquale Angelosanto, commander of the Carabinieri Special Operations Group (ROS).
The award was presented by the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso and by the President of the Caponnetto Foundation Salvatore Calleri in the presence of representatives from various countries and institutions.

The "Medal of Honor for Culture" of the MEDITERRANEAN AWARD was awarded by international juries to Annella Prisco, writer and cultural worker.
The award was presented by the president of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso after having read a comment on the work of the writer by journalist Massimo Milone, director of Rai Vaticano, unable to attend.

An important day at the Museum of Peace - MAMT to remember Giovanni Falcone on the 80th anniversary of his birth.
Many participants and testimonies: among these, those of General Pasquale Angelosanto, commander of the Carabinieri - ROS; of the parliamentarians Giuseppe Lumìa, Mario Giarrusso, Piera Aiello; of the magistrates Catello Maresca and Cesare Sirignano; of journalists Francesco Borrelli and Dania Mondini; of the president of the Caponnetto Foundation Salvatore Calleri and of Nilla Manzi Tavazza, Annella Prisco, Giuseppe Antoci and many others.
Many school students have retraced the main stages of Giovanni Falcone's life through the emotional paths and videos kept in the Museum.
The "Federazione Anna Lindh Italia Onlus " joined the day with the participation of multiple members.

26th ANTIMAFIA SUMMIT

The 26th Anti-Mafia Summit, organized by the Fondazione Caponnetto, the Fondazione Mediterraneo and the Mediterranean Observatory on Organized Crime and the Mafia (OMCOM) took place at the headquarters of the Fondazione Mediterraneo and the Museum of Peace - MAMT.
Speakers include magistrates Catello Maresca and Cesare Sirignano, parliamentarians Giuseppe Lumia, Mario Giarrusso and Piera Aiello, journalists Dania Mondini and Francesco Emilio Borrelli, general Giuseppe Vadalà, representatives of the judiciary, politics and civil society and the best exponents of the world fighting the Mafia.
This year's theme was "Mafia 4.0: where and what it does in Italy, in Europe and in the Mediterranean".
On this occasion the "OMCOM 2019 Awards" were presented.

The "Medal of Honor for Social Solidarity" of the MEDITERRANEAN AWARD was attributed by the international juries to the memory of Luciano Tavazza.
On this occasion, international juries also awarded the title "Ambassador of the United States of the World".
The award was presented to the widow Nilla Manzi Tavazza by the president of the Association Tavazza Domenico De Simone and by Pia Molinari in the presence of representatives from various countries and institutions.
