THE MAISON DE LA PAIX

CASA UNIVERSALE DELLE CULTURE

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture is a place strongly representative, in which will convey the knowledge of the different identities and cultures, structuring permanently initiatives aimed at the spreading of peace, necessary for the shared development.

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture (MdP) is a project conceived by Michele Capasso, approved by many Countries and international organizations. It is an architecture that keeps the memory of many Peace activities which created history, often more than the wars, but it is – above all – a space "to build” Peace.

The architectonical complex has an important symbolic worth: it represents the Countries of the World engaged in the Peace process and the Countries victim of the conflicts.

Proposed by the Fondazione Mediterraneo with the Maison des Alliances – together with the main adherent organizations, such as the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, the League of Arab States, the "Anna Lindh" Euro-Mediterranean Foundation and others, the MdP represents a referent point for all the ones who dedicate their lives to peace.

The symbol of the MdP is the "Totem for Peace", an artwork by the Italian sculptor Mario Molinari which the Fondazione Mediterraneo is promoting all around the world, creating the network of the "Cities for Peace".

The first seat of the MdP was inaugurated on the 14th of June 2010 (Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture) in the historical building of the Grand Hotel de Londres in Naples.

The action of the Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture aims at improving the main activities of the "Universal Forum of Cultures" in: Barcelona (2004), Monterrey (2007), Valparaiso (2010) and Naples (2013).

The Maison de la Paix performs most of the initiatives jointly with the Maison de la Méditerranée.

In collaboration with the Order of Journalists of Campania, Francesco Giorgino's book "Giornalismi e società" published by Mondatori was presented.
Among the speakers were: Massimo Lo Cicero, Massimiliano Musto, Massimo Deandrels, Domenico Falco and Giovanni A. Forte.

Giandomenico has left us!
He reached "the sun-drenched beaches of the sky", as he loved to say.
His last "Post" on FB dated 28 June 2017 recalled the inauguration of the MAMT Museum on 28 June 2016.
The Museum, the "emotional" heritage of humanity", has in its possession the videos "Campania of emotion" directed by Michele Capasso and made under the direction of Fabrizio Acampora by Giandomenico: a mix of passion, volcanicity, expertise and rigour.
We remember him with such affection as happy to have had the opportunity to spend two years with him: an unrepeatable human and professional experience that we wanted to recognize by attributing him the "TRICOLOR PEACE TOTEM".

Fifteen years ago in Naples we inaugurated the "Maison de la Méditerranée" in the presence of many Heads of State and Government, ambassadors and representatives of civil society.
In these fifteen years Naples has been the crossroads of meetings and significant actions for dialogue and peace that have seen our "Maison" take on a fundamental role.
Thanks to all those who have believed in this initiative, allowing us to combine concreteness and hope, trust and a sense of positive: despite all the difficulties that the Euro-Mediterranean region presents.
We will continue on this path: more and more "hunters of the positive"!

On the eve of the "World Refugee Day" designated by the United Nations, the Fondazione Mediterraneo wanted - together with other initiatives - to offer a concrete sign of solidarity. Thanks to the generosity of Horace and Pino Luciano, owners of one of the most important Neapolitan tailors, it has been possible to put at the disposal of some refugees some garments that have heated the heart and soul of many.
Thank you very much!
