In fact, a year ago, on March 18, 2020, Italy was facing one of its first blackest days: about 3,000 victims of Covid-19 nationwide. At the same time in Bergamo, dozens of Army trucks were carrying the coffins of the dead that the city, now close to collapse, could no longer contain to the crematorium ovens of nearby cities. For the occasion, Prime Minister Mario Draghi will be in Bergamo and take part in two events: the first at the monumental cemetery and the second at the inauguration of the Bosco della memoria.
The initiative aims to "preserve and renew the memory of all the people who have died as a result of this epidemic". The proposal that received the go-ahead from Montecitorio is summarized in the unified text (AC 2451 and abb., S. 1894) consisting of 6 articles: among these there is precisely the institution, on March 18, of a National Day in memory of all the victims of the coronavirus epidemic, the possibility that the State, the Regions or local authorities, organize ceremonies, events or initiatives, in coordination with the associations concerned, especially aimed at the younger generations, to favor the moment of remembrance and that the educational activities organized by educational institutions to promote understanding and learning of the issues related to the spread of the coronavirus epidemic and the international commitment to its containment.

The "Churchill Room" of the Museum of Peace - MAMT represents a unique testimony of history that attracts visitors, even remotely, from all over the world.
Within these walls, the great statesman laid the foundations for the historic speech on the "United States of Europe" and many "European" visitors reread the text next to the historic desk.
Among objects, artifacts, videos, rare documents and so on, there are also high-definition reproductions of the main paintings by Winston Churchill.
Among these the latest recently sold at auction: the view of Marrakech made by the former British premier in January 1943, until now part of the art collection of Angelina Jolie who received it as a gift in 2011 from her ex-husband Brad Pitt .
"The tower of the Koutoubia mosque" - whose high definition image can be enjoyed in the Museum, along with other paintings by the statesman such as the famous view of the Pompeii excavations - was sold for 7 million pounds in London by the auction house Christie's.
President Capasso retraces the history of the painting: "Churchill, in love with Marrocco, gave 'The tower of the Koutoubia mosque' to the US president, his ally, Franklin D. Roosevelt, during the Second World War. Churchill visited Morocco for the first time in 1935 and fell in love with it for the quality of the light he found there. The work, which bears the initials W.S.C, was donated by Churchill to Roosevelt after the Casablanca conference of 1943, in which they agreed on the strategy to defeat Nazi Germany, and on the eve of the Neapolitan stay at the Grand Hotel de Londres. After ten days at the summit, the British leader invited his North American counterpart to accompany him to visit one of his favorite places, stating: 'You can't go as far as North Africa without seeing Marrakech [...]. I have to be with you when you see the sunset over the Atlas Mountains, "the British Prime Minister told the US president. After five hours of travel, the two leaders arrived in the Moroccan city and Roosevelt was so fascinated by that sunset that the premier did not hesitate to extend his stay in Marrakech to immortalize the scene and offer it as a souvenir to the American president. Sir Winston Churchill had started painting Moroccan scenes after being encouraged to visit the country by his painting master, Sir John Lavery. On his first visit in 1935, he felt that the light and the landscape were unrivaled, creating some 45 paintings of the country. "The tower of the Koutoubia mosque" stands out as the only painting created between 1939 and 1945. When Roosevelt died the painting was inherited by his son and has since passed through the hands of various owners until 2011, when it was acquired. by Brad Pitt ”.

Today the 96th anniversary of the birth of Raffaele Capasso and the 68th anniversary of the birth of Massimo Troisi were celebrated at the Museum of Peace - MAMT. Born on the same day 28 years apart. Raffaele smiled when in 1984 he met Massimo for the first time and told him: "We born on February 19th are stubborn but we were born to give our contribution to others".
A common thread unites these two "special" characters born on the slopes of Vesuvius in two neighboring countries (San Sebastiano al Vesuvio and San Giorgio a Cremano): a realistic pessimism and, at the same time, the stubbornness to reach the goal, at any cost.
Raffaele Capasso did it by dedicating his life to rebuild the destroyed town, until the day of his death.
Massimo Troisi did this by reciting in the masterpiece "Il Postino" until a few days before his death, even though he was aware of the weakness of his sick heart.
These anniversaries coincide with the inauguration of President Draghi who concluded his speech to the Italian Parliament yesterday by stating that "Unity is not an option but a duty of all".
Raffaele Capasso coined the motto "Only all united we will sing": where "singing together" meant committing oneself to fight the adversities of life and nature by carrying out a difficult work of reconstruction, transforming what appeared "impossible" into "possible". Massimo Troisi often said that his success was not "individual" but due to a "united team" that has always supported him. It is important, especially for the new generations, not to forget these indispensable examples for building a better future despite the difficult time humanity is going through
.
