The Fondazione Mediterraneo took part in the inauguration ceremony of the Chair dedicated by the "La Sapienza" University to the "dialogue and peaceful coexistence among religions". In the aula magna of Palazzo del Rettorato, was held the inauguration ceremony with the title "King Hamad Chair for Inter-Religious Dialogue and Peace Co-existence", whose owner is Alessandro Saggioro. The ceremony opened with greetings from Rector Eugenio Gaudio and Crown Prince Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa representing the HM King of Bahrain Ḥamad bin'Īsā Āl Khalīfa.
The institution of the Chair aims to involve the new generations in a policy of knowledge and relationship between cultures and religions, as an antidote to extremism and radicalism. In a recent statement, His Majesty the King of Bahrain said: "Ignorance is the enemy of peace and therefore it is our duty to learn, share and live together".
