THE FOUNDATION PARTICIPATES IN THE PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK BY DACIA MARAINI "TRIO"

President Michele Capasso intervened at the presentation of Dacia Maraini's book "Trio", complimenting the writer for the quality of the work.
An intense and delicate novel, pervaded by the colors and smells of Sicily, which through the filter of a past never so close speaks of each of us, and of what can save us when everything collapses outside.
"Trio - Story of two friends, a man and the plague in Messina" (Rizzoli) marks the return of Dacia Maraini to the historical narrative after "The long life of Marianna Ucrìa", one of the most beloved books of the writer, poet, essayist, playwright and screenwriter among the most important in Italy who chose "her" Abruzzo, that of Pescasseroli, among whose woods in the heart of the Park, the author lives for a good part of the year, for one of the first presentations (the volume was released last June): at 6 pm, in Piazza Umberto I, the writer talked about it with the journalist of the Center, Domenico Ranieri, in a dialogue with musical interludes from the accordion orchestra “La Box del Vento” directed by Alessandro Parente.
"Trio" is an epistolary novel. To write to each other, in Sicily, in 1743, are Agata and Annuzza: their bond comes from afar, it was born when, still children, they learned the all-female art of embroidery under the severe gaze of Sister Mendola; he grew up feeding on the adventures of Cid and Ximena, read aloud together in the garden; she resisted the somersaults of fate, which made Agata the bride of Girolamo and Annuzza a young woman still free from the awe and joys of marriage. Now, while a plague epidemic is decimating the population of Messina, the two friends are cultivating their relationship at a distance at the tip of the pen, because the fear of contagion has driven them away from the city but has not extinguished the desire to be part of the one of the life of the other. And even if it is the man himself who ignites their desires, and the heart is pounding to impose their own reasons, Agata and Annuzza will be able to defend their friendship from jealousy and conventions of the world, which tells the women they have chosen better than any other feeling. to be.

TEN YEARS OF THE TOTEM OF PEACE CELEBRATED IN RUTINO

The tenth anniversary of the construction of the monumental work "TOTEM OF PEACE" in Rutino was celebrated with a webinar ceremony in Naples, Marrakech and Rutino.
On 7 August 2010 the president of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso, the late mayor of Rutino Michele Voria and Mrs Pia Molinari inaugurated the monumental work "Totem of Peace" by the sculptor Mario Molinari.
The work, 16 meters high and immovable, was built next to the church by choice of the then Bishop Monsignor Favale and built with the contribution of the whole town. It was the first work in the world of this size that passed the baton to all the others created. The ceremony was attended by political, cultural and religious personalities of the Euro-Mediterranean countries. Danilo Amerio with Antonio Voria performed in a concert in honor of the "Totem of Peace". On the occasion of the tenth anniversary, the International Committee for the Totem of Peace decided to propose to the municipality of Rutino as owner the space where the Totem of Peace is located to the late mayor Michele Voria who was the first promoter and architect of the realization of the monumental work in Rutino.
The "largo Michele Voria" is the right recognition for the work he carried out.

The events at the Museum of Peace - MAMT continue in full compliance with the rules of distancing.

The commitment of "Bottega constitututiva" goes in this direction, an initiative that was presented today at the Peace Museum in Naples born from the idea of the playwright and director Egidio Carbone Lucifero and supported by the Fondazione Mediterraneo. The activities are articulated with thematic in-depth meetings, training
and experimentation in synergy, among others, with the master Enzo Moscato, exponent of the new Italian and European dramaturgy. On this occasion the medium footage was screened
"Guado" (ITA 2014), work by Egidio Carbone Lucifero for cinema with the original soundtrack by James Senese.
The meeting, organized with the representatives of the Cultural Heritage section of the provincial Acli of Naples, the Mediterranean Foundation and the Peace Museum of Naples, was attended by artists and union representatives from the world of culture and entertainment, including Massimo Taglialatela, Uilcom regional secretary Campania, sector particularly affected by the contingent state of crisis. In the presence of the author, the artists of the Bottega Costitutiva read texts by Enzo Moscato and Egidio Carbone Lucifero with musical interventions by Marzouk Mejri.

The sixteenth of the anniversaries is dedicated to the seventh year since the death of Father Paolo Dall’oglio who was kidnapped on 29 July 2013.
The touched President Michele Capasso recalled the friendship with Father Paolo and the many battles waged together to promote peace and interreligious dialogue, in particular between Christianity and Islam.
The last meeting in Marseille in 2013 shortly before the kidnapping.
