CASA UNIVERSALE DELLE CULTURE

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture is a place strongly representative, in which will convey the knowledge of the different identities and cultures, structuring permanently initiatives aimed at the spreading of peace, necessary for the shared development.

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture (MdP) is a project conceived by Michele Capasso, approved by many Countries and international organizations. It is an architecture that keeps the memory of many Peace activities which created history, often more than the wars, but it is – above all – a space "to build” Peace.

The architectonical complex has an important symbolic worth: it represents the Countries of the World engaged in the Peace process and the Countries victim of the conflicts.

Proposed by the Fondazione Mediterraneo with the Maison des Alliances – together with the main adherent organizations, such as the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, the League of Arab States, the "Anna Lindh" Euro-Mediterranean Foundation and others, the MdP represents a referent point for all the ones who dedicate their lives to peace.

The symbol of the MdP is the "Totem for Peace", an artwork by the Italian sculptor Mario Molinari which the Fondazione Mediterraneo is promoting all around the world, creating the network of the "Cities for Peace".

The first seat of the MdP was inaugurated on the 14th of June 2010 (Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture) in the historical building of the Grand Hotel de Londres in Naples.

The action of the Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture aims at improving the main activities of the "Universal Forum of Cultures" in: Barcelona (2004), Monterrey (2007), Valparaiso (2010) and Naples (2013).

The Maison de la Paix performs most of the initiatives jointly with the Maison de la Méditerranée.

 

Michele Capasso, Fondazione Mediterraneo’s president joined to the cerimony for the 70° anniversary of religious blessing of Sister Maria Pia Giudici and the 50° of  Sister Maria Letizia and Sister Filomena. At the presence of church’s members, youngers and devotous followers bond to the order and to  Sister Maria Pia Giudici, has been presented the Sister Maria Pia Giudici’s book “This our good land” published by Fondazione Mediterraneo.

Prof. Ruggero Maria Santilli  hold Lectio Magistralis called “New Sciences for a new era”. Joined to the meeting several scientists, researcher and between them are noteworthy Michele Capasso, Fondazione Mediterraneo’s President, Carmine Nardone chairman of Futuridea and Dr. Salvatore Càlleri Regione Sicilia Assessor.

The award cerimony of the VII edition of the “Mare Nostrum Award 2014”took place in Rome.
Created by “Grimaldi Magazine” Mare Nostrum Awards is devoted to promoting the Highways of the Sea. The aim is to exploit this unique opportunity of tradings, links and sustainable development for all countries of the Mediterranean. The Mare Nostrum Awards prize amounts, as every year, to EUR 50,000 divided among the top five.
The International Jury of the Award consists of prominent members of journalism and culture.
The President Folco Quilici is supported, among the others, by Vassiliki Armogeni,greek journalist of te magazine Efoplistis, Michele Capasso, President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, Diana De Feo, RAI journalist, Mimmo Jodice, photographer, Paul Kyprianou, former President RoRo Carriers Europeans. Secretary of the Prize is Luciano Bosso, journalist and editor of Grimaldi Magazine Mare Nostrum.
During the evening, the President Michele Capasso was interviewed by Massimo Giletti on his recent mission to Erbil and Gaza.

The 6 winners are:

  1. Massimo Minella for the article “Engorgement Mediterranean - It shrinks the Mare Nostrum” published in the daily “Repubblica”;
  2. Giovanni Capozzoli for his television service "Highways of the Sea, highways to love" which aired on the SeiTV Television;
  3. Marco Molino for the photographic exhibition "The Wave of Stone" held in Procida (Na) at the School of Higher Education of the University "L'Orientale”;
  4. Danilo Mainardi for the article "Wriggle among the waves" published in the weekly "Sette-Corriere della sera";
  5. Claudia Bonasi and Antonio Dura for the photographic exhibition “Salerno-Tunisi, journey on the routes of the Mediterranean ceramic”, held at the Arch catalan of Pinto Palace,Salerno;
  6. Kostas Syligardos for the coverage on TV called “Sea Highways” aired  on the greek portal flashnews.gr.

The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso, greeted by Ernesto Olivero and Andrea Bisacchi, visited the headquarters of the Arsenal of Peace in Turin created by the SERMIG.
"It 's a thrill being able to touch the GOODNESS WELL DONE - said Capasso - and the work of Ernesto Olivero and SERMIG’s firends - in Italy, Brazil and Jordan - is the proof of the" Power of Love”.

Tuesday, September 16th, the Archbishop of Turin, Mgr. Cesare Nosiglia, during the celebration of the Eucharist of thanksgiving for the 50 years of SERMIG, delivered to Ernesto Olivero the decree of approval of the Statute of the Ecclesial with which the Fraternity of SERMIG is recognized as a private association of the faithful.
For the Fondazione Mediterraneo have intervened Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari, who expressed to Ernesto their  feelings of brotherhood and sharing of the Foundation.
At the end of the ceremony, during a meeting with Ernesto Olivero, have been discussed the upcoming joint initiatives such as the universal naming of the word "PEACE" and the 4th World Youth Meeting held in Naples October 4th 2014.
