CASA UNIVERSALE DELLE CULTURE

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture is a place strongly representative, in which will convey the knowledge of the different identities and cultures, structuring permanently initiatives aimed at the spreading of peace, necessary for the shared development.

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture (MdP) is a project conceived by Michele Capasso, approved by many Countries and international organizations. It is an architecture that keeps the memory of many Peace activities which created history, often more than the wars, but it is – above all – a space "to build” Peace.

The architectonical complex has an important symbolic worth: it represents the Countries of the World engaged in the Peace process and the Countries victim of the conflicts.

Proposed by the Fondazione Mediterraneo with the Maison des Alliances – together with the main adherent organizations, such as the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, the League of Arab States, the "Anna Lindh" Euro-Mediterranean Foundation and others, the MdP represents a referent point for all the ones who dedicate their lives to peace.

The symbol of the MdP is the "Totem for Peace", an artwork by the Italian sculptor Mario Molinari which the Fondazione Mediterraneo is promoting all around the world, creating the network of the "Cities for Peace".

The first seat of the MdP was inaugurated on the 14th of June 2010 (Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture) in the historical building of the Grand Hotel de Londres in Naples.

The action of the Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture aims at improving the main activities of the "Universal Forum of Cultures" in: Barcelona (2004), Monterrey (2007), Valparaiso (2010) and Naples (2013).

The Maison de la Paix performs most of the initiatives jointly with the Maison de la Méditerranée.

He died at the age of 106 years Vittorio di Pace, architect, Member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation and, above all, the great master of life.
A few days ago, at the headquarters of the Foundation, has relaunched with Gerardo Marotta the project of “inter-ethnic city for peace”.
“It’s a big pain – said President Capasso – that is associated with great joy for the gift received from his long life. We were born on the same day, like last year, we celebrated our birthday “.
We want to remember him so with a mix of videos of the latest events and meetings with our “Big Victor”.

The Foundation has planned of “M.A.M.T” – Mediterranean Museum of Arts, music and traditions.

“I have no children. It saddens me, therefore, thought that the objects that I collected all these years and I know at home, one day, will be lost. So I put them at the disposal of those who wanted to create a collection or a museum that would collect part of this extraordinary cultural heritage”.

Peppe Barra said, on the sidelines of the meeting for the presentation of his book “diary of an artist”, which was held in the municipal library of Vesuvian Culture of San Giorgio a Cremano (Naples). Remember the artist’s personal and professional, with curiosity and anecdotes related to mother Concetta, articulated between themselves by Patricia white, curator of the text, Giuseppina Scognamiglio, Director of “Playwriting” Edizioni Scientifiche Italiane and Giorgio Zala, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for enhancement of the Vesuvian villas, moderated by Vincenzo Liguori, President of the Association “St. George” Progetto that promoted the initiative. After the artist has made available to offer part of its own heritage “made of objects and typical of Neapolitan jewelry more true to anyone who wants to be a custodian of immense cultural patrimony, as well as affective”.

“I would like to take this opportunity-announced the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, Michele Capasso, present in the audience-to communicate the assignment to Peppe Barra del Premio Mediterraneo on culture 2013, making me wish jury spokesman meeting in Marseille last April 10 and the upcoming implementation of the “M.A.M.T, Mediterranean Museum of Arts, music and traditions” which are working on the Foundation. The prize, second only to the Nobel Prize, was established in 1993 and already in 2006 Italy’s Ambassador in Cairo Antonio Badini, has proposed the assignment to Peppe Barra but the work of the jury, composed of 3000 members of 43 different countries, took 7 years.

“We are happy,” said Zala - share the Museum project as administration and already in the coming days we will start a discussion table with the Foundation to define the modalities of our intervention. It is not excluding the possibility of making it a home here in San Giorgio a Cremano
