The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, Michele Capasso and the Director of the “young people, women and creativity” sector, Pia Molinari took part in an official meeting with the Executive Director of the National Observatory for Children’s Rights of Morocco, Said Raji, and the Vice-President, Amina El Malki Tazi, to lend their support to the establishment of the Mediterranean observatory for Children.

Among others, the meeting dealt with the issues of listening (above all in relation to violence against children), education (against illiteracy), protection and health.

The President of the Anna Lindh Foundation, André Azoulay, received the “Golden Olive for Peace” from Leila Shahid – the Palestinian Representative to the European Union - awarded by the “Doctors for Peace” Association in Menton.
André Azoulay and Leila Shahid received the Mediterranean Award in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

The awards ceremony for the “Mare Nostrum Award 2011” took place in Naples

The Mare Nostrum Awards were created by “Grimaldi Magazine”, and are dedicated to the promotion of the “Motorways of the Sea”. They aim to enhance this exceptional opportunity for exchanges, connections and sustainable development for all the countries of the Mediterranean area. The total prize money for the Mare Nostrum Awards amounts to Euro 50,000, and is shared among the top five entrants.

The International Prize-Giving Jury is made up of eminent figures from journalism and culture. Alongside President Folco Quilici, Brahim Aouam, the Consul of the Tunisian Republic in Naples, Vassiliki Armogeni, a Greek journalist from the Magazine Efoplistis, Michele Capasso, the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, Diana De Feo, a journalist from RAI (Italian State Broadcaster), Mimmo Jodice, the photographer, Enric Juliana, Deputy Editor of the Spanish daily newspaper, La Vanguardia, Paul Kyprianou, the former President of the Italian Shipowners’ Association, Virman Cusenza, the Director of the daily newspaper Il Mattino. Luciano Bosso, journalist and editor of Grimaldi Magazine Mare Nostrum was the Awards Secretary.
During the evening, compered by Massimo Giletti, the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, Michele Capasso presented an award to the Spanish photographer, Antonio Péres, emphasizing the need to show boundless courage to promote peace and development in difficult times.

From 1-4th December, the Moroccan Youth Forum for the Third Millennium together with the National Association for Studies and Research in Development organized an international meeting on the theme of “Young people and Human Safety”, in collaboration with the Agence du Sud, the Groupe OCP, the Wilaya of Dakhla , the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Royal Air Maroc, the World Peace Organisation and the Fondazione Mediterraneo in Dakhal,
The meeting took place at a time in which Morocco is undergoing historical, political, social and economic reform in a global context that is marked by profound transformations. More than 220 ardent peace supporters participated. Among them were young people aged between 18 to 35 from Africa, the Arab World, Asia, Europe and North and South America.
The meeting was animated by experts on human safety and key figures from all over the world. The event included cultural and artistic activities as well as solidarity actions for the populations of Dakhla. Agreements were also signed in favor of young people from the Southern Provinces of Morocco.

At the end of the forum, youth representatives from five continents signed a Memorandum constituting a Global Youth Network for Human Safety.

Driss Guerraoui, the National Coordinator of the Moroccan Youth Forum for the Third Millennium and members of the Fondazione Mediterraneo presided over the meeting.
