table border="0"> During the 15th edition of the Epiphany Concert, performed on 4th January at the Mediterraneo Theatre in Naples, the Fondazione Mediterraneo granted the Mediterranean Art and Creativity Award 2011 to Giuseppe Antonello Leone.
The Artist expressed his appreciation for this Award as well as his personal admiration for the activity carried out by the Fondazione during these years in favour of art. The Award was given by President Michele Capasso and the Prefect of Naples Andrea De Martino.

Kiro Gligorov, the first President of independent Macedonia, died on 1st January 2012, aged 94. President Gligorov had been the undisputed protagonist in the process that led to the independence of Macedonia from Yugoslavia without a single shot being fired.
As a founding member of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, he had also been a protagonist in shaping the peace and stability process in the Balkans.
Michele Capasso, the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, remembered him as a “great friend and kindred spirit, as well as a founder member of our Institution, whom we will never forget”.

The Monte dei Paschi di Siena Bank has installed the Totem for Peace by sculptor, Mario Molinari, at its French Headquarters in Paris. This sculpture is being disseminated throughout the world as a symbol of universal peace by the Fondazione.

The renowned artist, Giuseppe Antonello Leone, publicly acclaimed the book “Nostro Mare Nostro” by Michele Capasso (Ed. D Libri – Fondazione Mediterraneo) highlighting the pragmatism and concrete actions taken by Michele Capasso over the last twenty years to promote dialogue and of peace. “This book demonstrates the importance of dialogue, democracy and human rights in Euro-Mediterranean cooperation. It should be considered as an example for all of us”.
