 CASA UNIVERSALE DELLE CULTURE

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture is a place strongly representative, in which will convey the knowledge of the different identities and cultures, structuring permanently initiatives aimed at the spreading of peace, necessary for the shared development.

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture (MdP) is a project conceived by Michele Capasso, approved by many Countries and international organizations. It is an architecture that keeps the memory of many Peace activities which created history, often more than the wars, but it is – above all – a space "to build” Peace.

The architectonical complex has an important symbolic worth: it represents the Countries of the World engaged in the Peace process and the Countries victim of the conflicts.

Proposed by the Fondazione Mediterraneo with the “Maison des Alliances” – together with the main adherent organizations, such as the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, the League of Arab States, the "Anna Lindh" Euro-Mediterranean Foundation and others, the MdP represents a referent point for all the ones who dedicate their lives to peace.

The symbol of the MdP is the "Totem for Peace", an artwork by the Italian sculptor Mario Molinari which the Fondazione Mediterraneo is promoting all around the world, creating the network of the "Cities for Peace".

The first seat of the MdP was inaugurated on the 14th of June 2010 (Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture) in the historical building of the Grand Hotel de Londres in Naples.

The action of the Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture aims at improving the main activities of the "Universal Forum of Cultures" in: Barcelona (2004), Monterrey (2007), Valparaiso (2010) and Naples (2013).

The Maison de la Paix performs most of the initiatives jointly with the Maison de la Méditerranée.

The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari, a member of the FM CD, participating in the international seminar emphasizing the role of culture in economic processes, expecially in the countries of the southern shore of the Mediterranean.
On this occasion there was a meeting with European Commission Vice President Antonio Taiani, who expressed his satisfaction for the twenty-five activities of the Fondazione Mediterraneo.

THE PRESIDENT RENZI IN TUNISIA

The President of the Council of Ministers, Matteo Renzi, is in Tunisia. The decision to embark on his first trip abroad - from when he took office at Palazzo Chigi in recent days - just in this country, is dictated by the intention of the Italian government to focus on foreign policy in the Mediterranean.

The President Renzi had meetings at the Presidential Palace with the Interim President of the Republic of Tunisia, Moncef Marzouki, and at the Government House with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tunisia, Mehdi Jomaa. Subsequently, a meeting was held with female members of the Tunisian civil society at the Café des Nattes in the village of Sidi Bou Said which is below the meeting at the National Assembly by the President of the National Constituent Assembly, Mustapha Ben Jaafar , who in recent days has received from the President Capasso "Mediterranean Award for Institutions 2014".
In conclusion, the meeting at the residence of the Ambassador of Italy to Tunis Raimondo de Cardona, with a representation of Italian entrepreneurs operating in Tunisia and President of Confindustria Tunisian Whaida Boucha Maoui.

The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso has participated in the Congress of European Socialists held in Rome.
During a meeting with President of the European Parliament Schultz was recognized at the Fondazione Mediterraneo twenty-five years and his commitment to dialogue and peace an important role in building the new Europe for the Mediterranean.
Appreciation to the Foundation has been expressed by representatives of Arab countries, first of all, the president of the National Constituent Assembly of Tunisia Mustapha Ben Jaafar.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GIORGIO NAPOLITANO QUIRINALE TO RECEIVE THE PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL CONSTITUENT OF TUNISIA MUSTAPHA BEN JAAFAR

The President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano at the Quirinale received Mustapha Ben Jaafar, Speaker of the National Constituent Assembly of Tunisia, accompanied by the Ambassador of Tunisia to Italy Naceur Mestiri and a delegation of Tunisia.

Immediately after the meeting at the Quirinale President Ben Jaafar received by the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso the "Mediterranean Award for Institutions 2014".

President Ben Jaafar also intervened at the Congress of European Socialists to bring the Tunisian example, cornerstone of the new Europe for the Mediterranean.
