The MAMT- Mediterranean Museum of Art, Music and Traditions is an institution created by the Fondazione Mediterraneo with the aim “to experience” in an interactive way, the positive emotions of Our Sea through Arts, Music and Traditions. The MAMT is one of the most important initiatives of Fondazione Mediterraneo: an active space created in order to let communicate Arts, Music and Traditions of the Mediterranean contemporary society. The awareness of a past full of ancient traditions is the base for the construction of a rational and connected humanity: the vastness of the Mediterranean area collects together the responsibility, the hard work and intelligence with the ability to share spaces and cultures. Today, more than ever, the sense of future is given by the awareness of the sorrow, of the conflicts and at the same time by the ability to share joys and bond.
Art and Music are since ever the tool of communication and sharing of the humanity that, in a particular “Mediterranean” path, allows us to overtake the violence of the human being that showed itself in his greater brutality in countries as Bosnia, Palestine, Syria and other places: as testify of this there are Bosnia, in order not to forget and Suffering and Hope in the world, exhibitions of the museum.

At the same time there are symbols inviting to meeting and hope appear in lands of desolation and Hush: The Ferrigno Nativity Scene, the exhibition a Sea, three Faiths, the Peace and the Last Neapolitan Supper are part of the Museum.
Near the Totem of Peace and other works by Mario Molinari, sculptor of the color, accompanies the lonely journey of freedom, the Dreamlike World of John Crown and the desire of participation and recognition of the role of women in the Mediterranean in the exhibition “Breaking the Veils, women artists of Islamic World”.
Fado, Flamenco, Tango and Sirtaki, the Song of Naples, the Great Lyric Operas, Arabic Music and the Classics of all the times catch the attention of the audience with the acoustic perfection of the “Music hall” of the Museum.
The section dedicated to Pino Daniele has a particular meaning.
The warm of the Mediterranean human nature and the awareness of the necessity to keep track, the the wealth and the fertility find in the “Section Architecture” – with the Associated presences of Alvaro Siza, Ciamarra Picas, Vittorio Di Pace, Nicola Pagliara, Marco Introini and others - and in the Voices of the Migrants and other strong point.
The artworks of Pietro and Rino Volpe mark Mediterranean signs in which the culture and the literature merge with the creativity making a unique collection.
A collection of HD video about the most important sites of the Campania Region will accompany the tourists of cruises and the visitors in the whole building: the ground floor facing on Municipio Square will host an info-point unique in its kind. The MAMT is also an articulated system of services in the heart of the city of Naples: the library, the emeroteque, the music hall, salt conventions, the restaurants, the Euromedcafé, the residences and the bookshop receive the visitor with sympathy and enthusiasm: that enthusiasm of the Mediterranean!

ANNIVERSARIES AT THE MUSEUM: 100 YEARS FROM THE BIRTH OF RENATO CAROSONE

The third of the anniversaries is dedicated to the centenary of the birth of Renato Carosone.
Many visitors, mostly Neapolitans, intervened in the multimedia rooms of the Museum where - in the section "The great protagonists of history" - videos, images and documents of the great Neapolitan musician are available: "The lord of the notes".
Renato Carosone was born 100 years ago. Singer-songwriter, but also composer, pianist, conductor: among the most representative Italian artists of the twentieth century and symbol of Neapolitan music. Together with Domenico Modugno, Carosone is the only Italian to have sold records in the United States not recorded in English.
It is the symbol of the Neapolitan song in the world: in the last years of his life he was also a painter.
All this, and even more, was Renato Carosone.

The second of the anniversaries is dedicated to the sixtieth anniversary of the death of Fausto Coppi.
Many visitors and sportsmen intervened in the multimedia rooms of the Museum where - in the section "The great protagonists of history" - videos, images and documents of the great runner are available.
60 years have passed since January 2, 1960, when following a malaria contracted in Africa during a race, Fausto Coppi died. Yet his myth has not only remained intact, but is constantly growing. A life spanning 40 years, of which 20 years spent winning and becoming one of the greatest and most popular cyclists of all time.
Coppi has become the inspiration of songs ("It comes from fatigue and dirt roads .... here with us five times then twice in France for the world four times against the wind two mild eyes and a nose that divides the wind", so sings Gino Paoli), countless books, films, radio commentaries that are part of the collective imagination ("One man is in command; his shirt is white-blue; his name is Fausto Coppi" by Mario Ferretti) all material which has entered by law into the knowledge and awareness of sports lovers, but not only. In short, a timeless myth.
Legendary was his rivalry with Gino Bartali, who divided Italy in the immediate post-war period: the photo depicting the two champions was celebrated while passing a bottle during the Col du Galibier climb to the 1952 Tour. Over 150 races were won. Thirty-one days in pink jersey at the Giro d'Italia, 19 in yellow of the Tour de France. In the Giro he won twenty-two stages, in the Tour nine.

On the first day of the year 2020, the events concerning the most significant anniversaries that see the Fondazione Mediterraneo and the Museum of Peace begin.
The first is dedicated to the fortieth anniversary of the death of Pietro Nenni.
Many visitors and socialist comrades intervened in the multimedia rooms of the Museum where - in the section "The great protagonists of history" - videos, images and documents of the great socialist are available.
President Capasso, moved, remembered the many meetings with Pietro Nenni in Formia and in Rome: starting from the first, in 1959, when the then secretary of the PSI inaugurated the section of San Sebastiano al Vesuvio and embraced his "Raffaele" , mayor and socialist who honored the party and Italy.
In that photo, at the age of 6, President Capasso appears alongside his father Raffaele and Pietro Nenni.
In all the turning points and policies of the Socialist Party, from 1922 to 1969, there is its mark. History of a leader with few equals in the history of this country: socialist, Jacobin and statesman. Rarely has a party identified itself as its leader, as happened to the PSI with Pietro Nenni. 2019 closes with over 10.000 visitors at the "Museum of emotions". But, in addition to these presences, the Museum and the international institutions located in the Palazzo Pierce hosted over 150 international and national meetings in the 24 conference rooms, which saw the participation of about 12,000 participants from Italy and various countries of the world.
Considering the costs assumed by each participant for travel, accommodation, local and various expenses, the significant contribution of the Museum and international institutions to the economy of Naples and Campania can be understood.
A virtuous example of economic development through cultural enhancement.
