The meeting of the “ad hoc” Scientific Committee of the Mediterranean Foundation was held in full compliance with the “covid 19” rules for the definition of the emotional videos to be included on the web platform “LA CAMPANIA DELLE EMOZIONI”. The Committee, chaired by profs. Michele Capasso and Massimo Pica Ciamarra, first of all expressed thanks for the qualified "voluntary" work, carried out by experts and men and women of culture, aimed both at the selection of images from the filmed material concerning 16 cultural attractions of Campania (Naples, Avellino, Benevento, Royal Palace of Caserta, Salerno, Vesuvius, Pompeii, Baia and Cuma, Amalfi Coast, Sorrento Coast, Capri, Ischia, Procida, Certosa di Padula, Paestum and Herculaneum) and the selection of famous phrases by travelers, poets, writers, etc. . to be inserted as subtitles in the various videos. President Capasso summarized the reasons for the project, due to the requests of the majority of visitors and tourists to the Museum to be able to enjoy the emotional videos on the 16 UNESCO World Heritage attractions of the Campania Region - already a gift of the Museum - not only in the physical spaces of the Museum headquarters in Naples in via Depretis, 130 but also on an "ad hoc" web platform, in order to make them usable and enjoyable all over the world: a need that has been further strengthened with the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic.
"Alongside the existing single videos of medium-long duration (about 25-30 minutes each) - continues Capasso - there was a specific request for synthesis and grouping of the same by thematic areas, highlighting the" uniqueness "of each site: The islands of Campania, Capital Cities, Archaeological Sites, Wonderful Nature, etc. Added to this was the request to propose short-term commercials and a "unique" video summary of the 16 videos made of over an hour of viewing: all with the unpublished music by Pino Daniele to accompany the images in high definition the result of a considerable commitment by the Museum and constituting its main gift. To meet these requests, all the more essential today for the effects of the pandemic and the consequent impediments of tourist flows and visitors to the aforementioned attractors, the Foundation proposed the project aimed at creating the web platform "The Campania of emotions" on which make usable in high definition:
- the 16 multimedia videos already dowry of the Museum and inherent 16 attractions and UNESCO heritage of Campania collected in synthesis in new videos for thematic areas;
- 4 commercials of various lengths;
- a summary video of over 100 minutes entitled "The Campania of emotions".
The members of the SC express satisfaction for the work carried out whose value is far superior to the modest resources used essentially for the mere cost of transport and construction.
In detail, the activities carried out by the Scientific Committee were:
- Selection of meaningful images from each of the 16 existing videos
From the 16 existing videos (of about 25-30 minutes each) were selected after careful viewing and subsequent selection of images that have reduced them to 8-15 minutes each. The same videos were selected for thematic areas in order to create n. 4 videos of about 25-30 minutes each in which the attractors have been divided by thematic areas:
- THE ISLANDS OF CAMPANIA (Capri, Ischia, Procida)
- THE CAPITAL CITIES (Napoli, Salerno, Caserta, Avellino, Benevento)
- THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES (Pompei, Paestum, Cuma e Baia, Ercolano)
- WONDERFUL NATURE IN CAMPANIA (Vesuvio, Costiera amalfitana, Costiera sorrentina, Certosa di Padula).
This activity took place in Naples with the aid of equipment hired by the Foundation on 9, 10, 16 and 17 July 2020. Members of the scientific committee, experts and Dr. Maria Pia Balducci, director of the Museum and coordinator participated. of the meeting. On this occasion, the films shot for each of the 16 locations were viewed with an average duration of 30-35 minutes and selected films for each with an average duration from 8 to 15 minutes.
Subtitling of the 16 existing videos with choice of famous phrases for each location and harmonization with the soundtracks of Pino Daniele
In order to make the videos reduced to 8-15 minutes available to the deaf (concerning the following locations: Naples, Avellino, Benevento, Reggia di Caserta, Salerno, Vesuvius, Pompeii, Baia and Cuma, Amalfi Coast, Sorrento Coast, Capri, Ischia, Procida, Certosa di Padula, Paestum and Ercolano) the scientific committee has made a careful selection of comments from prestigious writers, poets and artists of the past: from Pablo Neruda to Oscar Wide; from Matilde Serao to Mozart and so on for a long list to create subtitles to be included in the most significant images of each video and for each location. A further activity was carried out to harmonize the images with the chosen phrases and the unpublished music by Pino Daniele making up the soundtracks of each film.
This activity took place in Rome on August 5, 2020 and September 2, 2020 to select the bases of Pino Daniele. It then continued in Naples on 8 and 9 October 2020.
The Scientific Committee unanimously approves the work carried out. The profs. Capasso and Pica Ciamarra announce that the final session will take place in Naples on 22 October 2020 with the coupling of the soundtracks to the images and subtitles and the start of their insertion on the web channel "LA CAMPANIA DELLE EMOZIONI".
