CASA UNIVERSALE DELLE CULTURE

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture is a place strongly representative, in which will convey the knowledge of the different identities and cultures, structuring permanently initiatives aimed at the spreading of peace, necessary for the shared development.

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture (MdP) is a project conceived by Michele Capasso, approved by many Countries and international organizations. It is an architecture that keeps the memory of many Peace activities which created history, often more than the wars, but it is – above all – a space "to build” Peace.

The architectonical complex has an important symbolic worth: it represents the Countries of the World engaged in the Peace process and the Countries victim of the conflicts.

Proposed by the Fondazione Mediterraneo with the Maison des Alliances – together with the main adherent organizations, such as the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, the League of Arab States, the "Anna Lindh" Euro-Mediterranean Foundation and others, the MdP represents a referent point for all the ones who dedicate their lives to peace.

The symbol of the MdP is the "Totem for Peace", an artwork by the Italian sculptor Mario Molinari which the Fondazione Mediterraneo is promoting all around the world, creating the network of the "Cities for Peace".

The first seat of the MdP was inaugurated on the 14th of June 2010 (Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture) in the historical building of the Grand Hotel de Londres in Naples.

The action of the Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture aims at improving the main activities of the "Universal Forum of Cultures" in: Barcelona (2004), Monterrey (2007), Valparaiso (2010) and Naples (2013).

The Maison de la Paix performs most of the initiatives jointly with the Maison de la Méditerranée.

 

The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso spoke at the depth seminar "International Solidarity and Social Development", held in Naples.

The President Michele Capasso has intervened as a speaker at the round table chaired by General Eduardo Centore which was attended by Councillor Michael Giffoni, journalist Maurizio Cabona, General George Blais and prof. Matteo Lo Presti. Present Min. Pl. Enrico Granara the MFA.
On this occasion the President Capasso reported the testimony of the actions carried out by the Fondazione Mediterraneo in favor of the Ex-Yugoslavia.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Museum and hobnobbing with the guests and the authorities, the Regional Director of the State Property Agency Campania ing. Dario Di Girolamo - accompanied by Ing. Antonella Ciocchi - confirmed that, after the legal investigation to verify the interest of the public administration, could be assigned to the Museum of Peace - MAMT local overlooking Piazza Municipio: 5 windows on the square, a large space (where once there was the CIT agency and unused decades) when setting up the sections "The emotional Campania", "The Quirinale: freedom, democracy and social justice", "Tunisia between Islam and democracy" and "The treasures of Morocco".
President Michele Capasso, present the Mayor of Naples Luigi de Magistris, the ambassadors and representatives of 30 countries and partner institutions of the Museum (declared "World Heritage") has expressed its appreciation of the State Property Agency, which has always supporter of the Foundation's activities with the aim of ensuring the Museum and to the institutions that in the historical building have the seat all the spaces available for the security that the website requires.
The ambassadors of Tunisia and Morocco, Hassan Abouyoub and Naceur Mestiri, have expressed their appreciation for the Italian Government for wanting to insure the ground floor spaces of the historic building in which the testimony and the exhibits of the respective countries will be able to have direct contact with people.
The Councillor for Culture of the Region Campania, Caterina Miraglia, expressed recognition for the work of the Foundation and the Region for this great gift which is the Museum of Peace - MAMT: recipient of the next EU funds for multimedia works and new functions the control systems and access security, given the high representative of the institutions located there and the symbolic and economic value of the exhibits to be protected.
