 CASA UNIVERSALE DELLE CULTURE

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture is a place strongly representative, in which will convey the knowledge of the different identities and cultures, structuring permanently initiatives aimed at the spreading of peace, necessary for the shared development.

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture (MdP) is a project conceived by Michele Capasso, approved by many Countries and international organizations. It is an architecture that keeps the memory of many Peace activities which created history, often more than the wars, but it is – above all – a space "to build” Peace.

The architectonical complex has an important symbolic worth: it represents the Countries of the World engaged in the Peace process and the Countries victim of the conflicts.

Proposed by the Fondazione Mediterraneo with the “Maison des Alliances” – together with the main adherent organizations, such as the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, the League of Arab States, the "Anna Lindh" Euro-Mediterranean Foundation and others, the MdP represents a referent point for all the ones who dedicate their lives to peace.

The symbol of the MdP is the "Totem for Peace", an artwork by the Italian sculptor Mario Molinari which the Fondazione Mediterraneo is promoting all around the world, creating the network of the "Cities for Peace".

The first seat of the MdP was inaugurated on the 14th of June 2010 (Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture) in the historical building of the Grand Hotel de Londres in Naples.

The action of the Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture aims at improving the main activities of the "Universal Forum of Cultures" in: Barcelona (2004), Monterrey (2007), Valparaiso (2010) and Naples (2013).

The Maison de la Paix performs most of the initiatives jointly with the Maison de la Méditerranée.

Francis, on the other hand, not only took a historic step in interreligious dialogue by meeting one of the greatest authorities of Shiite Islam, the great Ayatollah Ali al Sistani, but he reaffirmed the principles of equality between all the ethnic, social and religious components of the country on citizenship; on this path he was accompanied by Al Sistani himself who in a declaration wished to ensure his commitment so that "Christian citizens live like all Iraqis in peace and security, with all their constitutional rights".

 The two were traveling aboard a car in a MONUSCO convoy, the United Nations organization's mission for stabilization in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In connection from Naples with the House of Prayer of San Biagio (Subiaco) there was a moment of remembrance entitled “Let's remember” on the occasion of the first anniversary of the ascent to heaven of Sister Maria Pia Giudici. Connected from various countries of the world, the "Sanbiagini" recalled their experience with Sister Maria Pia by tracing the path of a long and particular life, dedicated to Jesus and the Gospel. Images, poems, paintings, books, interviews and much more detailed the path of a nun who was an example for many.
The president Michele Capasso, moved, recalled her long affectionate friendship with Sister Maria Pia and the example of a simple life in joy, well summarized in the film "MARIA PIA GIUDICI: JOY IN A SIMPLE LIFE". On this occasion, Sister Maria Pia's visits to the Don Bosco Museum and Chapel were remembered.

On February 2, the inauguration ceremony of the new Archbishop of Naples took place: Monsignor Domenico Battaglia, or Don Mimmo, as he likes to be called. And with some of them he wanted to enter the cathedral where his predecessor, Cardinal Sepe, was absent, because he was still recovering after Covid.
But for Battaglia the imperative, in the years that will see him at the helm of the largest diocese in the South, will have to be to reorganize the conscious hope that from today, he said during the meeting with the authorities, "a new stretch of road and my greatest desire is to be able to regain the ability to dream together "especially in a time, like that of the Covid emergency, which has" ended up increasing inequalities and with them social tensions ".
At the meeting with the authorities, in addition to the mayor of Naples, Luigi de Magistris and the governor of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca, the ministers Enzo Amendola and Gaetano Manfredi were also present. Battaglia said that "Signs that become dreams: right today here in Naples we must dream together, because if we really intend to regain possession of the dream, we know very well that it is necessary to return to reasoning in terms of ourselves, we must start again to think in the plural".
We all greatly appreciated his words full of hope and Christian values ​​and, above all, of hostility towards Love for the Power which must transform itself into the Power of Love. We will not let him miss our presence during his pastoral journey.
