UNESCO DIRECTOR GENERAL IRINA BOKOVA VISITS THE CASA DEL MAGHREB ARABO

Irina Bokova, UNESCO Director General, accompanied by her husband Kalin Mitrev, visited the “CASA DEL MAGHREB ARABO” where they were welcomed by President  Michele Capasso, board members Pia Molinari and Vittorio di Pace, as well as the ALECSO Director General Mohamed-El Aziz Ben Achour. On that occasion, she took the opportunity to express her appreciation for the Fondazione’s twenty-year commitment, especially through its cooperation with the Arab World. President Michele Capasso illustrated the main activities in the programme of the “Casa del Maghreb Arabo”. Irina Bokova signed the Scroll of the "Casa del Maghreb Arabo".

ALECSO – FONDAZIONE MEDITERRANEO AGREEMENT

A solemn ceremony was held for the signature of an important memorandum of understanding between ALECSO (Arab League Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and the Fondazione Mediterraneo. It was attended by UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova, the World President of ICOMOS Gustavo Araoz, as well as ambassadors and representatives of European and Arabic countries. The document was signed by the ALESCO Director General Mohamed-El Aziz Ben Achour and the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso.

THE WORLD PRESIDENT OF ICOMOS GUSTAVO ARAOZ VISITS THE FONDAZIONE MEDITERRANEO

UNESCO SUPPORTS THE APPEAL FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE

During a visit by the UNESCO director General Irina Bokova to the Headquarters of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, an appeal was launched by the international committee of the Fondazione Mediterraneo asking for cultural heritage to be considered as a vector for peace and dialogue among cultures and religions.
