From the 29th of September to the 2nd of October 2010, the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise will host the Annual Conference of Europarc-Federation, the European parks and natural reserves Federation. The Conference envisages approximately 20 workshops involving the problems of the park management.
Participants, delegates and renowned people will unveil, before starting the proceedings, the monumental work Totem for Peace by the sculptor Mario Molinari.
Making a speech in the inaugural session of Europarc 2010, Presidente Michele Capasso proposed to the President of Europarc Federation Mrs. Erika Stanciu and to the 500 delegates to adopt the Totem for Peace in all the National Parks of the World, as symbol to safeguard nature, as pillar of eco-sustainable development and of peace. The proposal was accepted and some representatives have already shown interest in realizing, in their respective Park, the monumental work of the Totem of Peace. Among them: Gerard O´Neil (deputy chief executive of Parks Victoria in Australia); Deanne L. Adams (President of the International Ranger Federation - San Leandro - USA); Paulo de Castro (Pontonatura, Portugal); Herman Reimerink (Netherlands).
