The Fondazione Mediterraneo paid tribute at the Museum of Peace - MAMT to Abdelwahed Radi, who died on Sunday 26 March 2023 in a Paris clinic.
Deeply moved, Michele Capasso, President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, recalled the most significant moments of a fraternal friendship that lasted more than 25 years.
"Abdelwahed Radi had a rich life. A politician like no other in Morocco, he was a leading figure in the modern history of the country. The number of personalities present at his funeral at the Chouhadas cemetery in Rabat, two days after his death, is enough to illustrate his stature. Among them, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan himself and Prince Moulay Rachid," said Michele Capasso, recalling the many moments that characterised a friendship that lasted more than a quarter of a century: from the inauguration of the Totem for Peace in Rabat to the ceremony as honorary citizen in San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, from the Forums for human rights to the many battles for the marginalised in society.
On this occasion, a volume was presented dedicated to the relations between the Foundation and Morocco, where President Radi is, with King Hassan II and King Mohammed VI, an absolute protagonist.
At the end of his life, President Radi published a book to tell his story, his life: lived to the full.
Many guests at the museum wished to remember the great statesman.
