During the World Migrants Day this coming 18 December, a project will be presented by the Italian Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation entitled: “Mediterranean Networking: step one Lampedusa”: migration, rights and the Arab Spring.

“Buccino calls Torino”: is the title of the local newspaper published by the small town in the province of Salerno, promoting “Luci d’Artista”: an international event launched several years ago by the City of Turin, which is being promoted this year by Buccino. This year, the works of Mario Molinari play a central role in the theming, which is set in symbolic places in the town merging its history and architecture with the works of art. During a visit to see the setting for the works, Pia Molinari expressed her satisfaction to the town’s mayor, Mr. Nicola Parisi about the professionalism of preparations and choice of places and donated a gift of a book on the works of Mario Molinari to express her appreciation for the same. |

Rosaria Rizzo’s book “Anima in Parole” was presented at the Town Hall Meeting Room in Buccino
After an introduction by the Mayor Nicola Parisi, President Michele Capasso explained the activities carried out by the Fondazione over the past twenty years on the question of violence against women. He also laid down the guidelines for the future of gender equality in the Mediterranean.
Pia Molinari, a member of the Steering Committee of the Fondazione, was also present.

The “Totem of Peace” by Mario Molinari will be built in Buccino.
In the memorandum of understanding signed by President Capasso and the Mayor of Buccino, Parisi, it was agreed that the monumental work of art would be erected in the historical Town Hall of Buccino.
Molinari created this work for the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.

A memorandum of under standing was signed between the Fondazione Mediterraneo, represented by President Michele Capasso and board member Pia Molinari, and the Municipality of Buccino represented by the Mayor Nicola Parisi.
The agreement foresees, among others, the establishment of a “Mediterranean Award for Archeology” dedicated to Marcello Gigante, who was born in Buccino and who is a member of the Fondazione.

“Naples as an example of political and administrative regeneration”: briefly stated this is the challenge thrown down by the Mayor Luigi de Magistris, which needs to be achieved at both national and international level. The Mayor stated that at a meeting in Turin, his speech on “Naples as an example of political regeneration founded on lawfulness and the common good was widely acknowledged and appreciated”.
During the debate, the more shocking aspects of the current crisis were also touched upon. President Michele Capasso reiterated that there was a renewed need for sobriety and solidarity as the basis of a new sense of civic responsibility for the common good.

At a meeting with the Mayor of Torre Annunziata Giosuè Starita, the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari, director of the “Totem for Peace” project, the details were set out for the construction of and completion of the “Totem of Peace” at Torre Annunziata: its completion is foreseen for 2013. |

A special edition of MEDNEWS – the FM’s own magazine – was dedicated to the new direction taken by the Anna Lindh Foundation.
It was sent out to Heads of the 43 National Networks, members of the ALF, the secretariat and more than 20,000 actors involved in dialogue among cultures in all parts of the world.
The document was sent by the Italian Network in three official languages and officially presented at the meeting held in Cyprus on 9 November 2012.

Bianchina’S Oven in San Sebastiano al Vesuvio – which produces products using a wood-fired oven, using select bundles of wood in accordance with ancient traditions - teamed up with the Fondazione for its programme: “Saperi e Sapori - Aiutaci ad aiutarli aiutandoti!” (traditions and flavours - help us to help them…helping each other!)
Bread, cakes and other baked products of the highest quality were offered by the Friends of the Fondazione who support humanitarian initiatives under the programme.
President Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari reminisced upon Bianchina’s long-standing with Michele’s father, Raffaele Capasso, who had been Mayor in the Vesuvian town for more than 35 years.
