The president of the Mediterraneo Foundation Michele Capasso partecipates,in Erbill, in actions to help the population – in particular Christian and Yazide ones – escaping from massacres, promoting hospitality from Muslim families, and by doing so, reconstructing a climate of trust and cooperation.
“The Foundation - said Capasso - it is committed since 25 years in initiatives for dialogue and peace It has distinguished itself in Srebrenica and Bosnia, for concrete steps to help. These massacres, besides the victims, fueling hatred and misunderstandings that threaten to perpetuate itself: to promote the acceptance of Christians and Yazidis by Muslim families is inscribed in the wake of an ancient tradition - dating back to 1915, when the Syrian Sunnis welcomed the Armenians on the run - and it sees the majority of Muslims welcome the refuges persecuted in the name of values of charity, generosity and hospitality that are the basis of the same Islam.
The mission of the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic Matteo Renzi, in Baghdad and Erbilis right - concludes Capasso - as it is right claim the role for Europe, however, the West and the whole international community can not close their eyes on Syria and they must lift the veil on an unworthy politics and many falsehoods. "

Among those present were the President Capasso with a delegation of environmentalists. he recalled the figure of Don Giuseppe Diana, to whose memory, the Mediterranean Foundation has awarded the "Mediterranean award for Legality 2014".

During an event held in Benevento at the headquarters of Futuridea, President Carmine Nardone - a member of the executive committee of RIDE - presented the account of its activities and the future program Futuridea Association, as a member of the RIDE and partner of the Fondazione Mediterraneo .
The President Capasso has expressed satisfaction with the quality of scientific activities and for those in program, formulating, on behalf of the RIDE, the best wishes to President Nardone.

The “Totem of Peace” by Molinari – under costruction in Procida - will be dedicated, as agreed in 2013, to "INNOCENT VICTIMS MIGRANTS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN". So it will be joined to the "Totem of Peace at the MFA" (dedicated to the fallen Italians in Afghanistan), the "Totem of Peace in Pescasseroli" (dedicated to the Alpine fallen in all the wars) and one under construction in Ramallah (dedicated to the innocent victims of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict).

The Fondazione Mediterraneo, which is present with its network of humanitarian initiatives, launched a heartfelt appeal from Gaza to Shimon Perez and Abu Mazen to suspend the war effort.
"The President of the United States has said: 'If rockets were fired at my house, at me and my children, I would certainly react,' the text reads, 'and that is right! But he did not say what he would do if the neighbour entered his home, occupied room after room, and responded to any opposition to the invasion with kidnapping, destruction and killing. President Abu Mazen has sought every possible agreement and has achieved nothing. What else is left for a people but to express their revolt?
But blind faith in force has destroyed all compassion, rejected all dialogue and stands proud in Gaza amidst the ruins and death of civilians as well as in Israel amidst the fear and victims of rockets from Gaza.
Europe and the governments of the West, just as they were silent when the holocaust of the Jews was being prepared and perpetrated, now stand back with empty words, waiting for the victor to give them the appearance of having brokered peace when the fighting is over.
It is up to civil society to rise up and say enough!
To say loud and clear that human values, which are the hard-won part of its history and the glory of its culture, must be respected, now and immediately, in Gaza, in Tel Aviv, in Jerusalem and everywhere".
