Thirty years of history of the MEDITERRANEAN FOUNDATION (FM) seen through the eyes of its members, leaders and the outside world constitute the proof of an intuition assumed in an age where little was spoken of "Mediterranean" with the complex themes of region.
Many international institutions are noteworthy for the role of nations or for the interventions of the political leaders who participate in their meetings, while the activities and initiatives of the FM - carried out in Italy, in the Euro-Mediterranean region and in other parts of the world - stand out for the active and joint participation of government representatives, international bodies and civil society.
Over the years, the Euromed Civil Forums organized by the FM have involved hundreds of experts working together in a collaborative and collegial spirit: the SPIRIT OF NAPLES.
The FM was born in 1989 as an international non-profit organization based in Naples.
In this thirty-year period she has distinguished herself for the concreteness of the actions carried out with passion and competence to support especially the involvement of young people.

In Italy the Institutions and the Regions constitute the fundamental articulation on which the Country is structured; at the same time there are rare occasions in which it is possible to fully enjoy the history, the actions and the importance of each of them with a particular involvement of the students.
The main purpose of the project "ITALY TO DISCOVER" is to "tell" every year - from 2020 to 2050 - the Italian institutions and regions through a series of events hosted at the Museum of Peace - MAMT: exhibitions, videos, books, guided tours and various events have the aim to provide a complete overview of each institution and region in a whole year, so that users can fully understand the importance, value and role.
With the help of catalogs and multimedia videos it will be possible to create a unique and precious collection that will bring together the 10 Italian institutions and 20 regions involved at the end of the program.

The idea of the project “ITALY TO DISCOVER” was first proposed by the Fondazione Mediterraneo (FM) on the occasion of the Euromed Civil Forum (FCE) in Naples (1997): on that occasion the 3,000 representatives of 36 countries commissioned the Foundation to implement this action.
The Fondazione Mediterraneo - with the Maison de la Paix (MDP), the Maison de la Méditerranée (MDM), the Accademia del Mediterraneo (ADM) and the Museum of Peace - MAMT - has been committed since 1989 to enhancing the role of Italy in the Euro-Mediterranean area: for these reasons, on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the FM (2020), the Governing Council resolved to consolidate the results obtained by implementing the project "ITALY TO DISCOVER" intended as a set of events finalized each year - from 2020 to 2050 - to promote and enhance the main Italian institutions and regions.

The main organizers, in addition to the Fondazione Mediterraneo, are the Maison de la Paix, the Museum of Peace - MAMT, the Maison de la Méditerranée, the Academy of the Mediterranean and the Maison des Alliances.
The main partners are the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, the Federico II University of Naples, the House of the Arab Maghreb, the Network of Euro-Mediterranean Universities "Almamed", the Network of Mediterranean Universities "Muna", the Mediterranean Observatory on organized crime and the mafias, the "Euromedcity" City Network, the "Isolamed" network of islands with the institutions and regions involved in the program.
