President of Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso, accompanied by the Mayor of Coazze Paolo Allais payed homage to the martyrs of the Resistance with the Tricolored Totem for Peace by sculptor Mario Molinari.

On the occasion of the inaugural opening in Forno di Coazze of the Tricolored Totem for Pace by sculptor Mario Molinari, the President of the Committee for the 150th Anniversary of the Italian Unity Giuliano Amato and the President of the Committee for the Ossario di Coazze Piero Fassino were nominated "Peace-keepers".
"It is with deep emotion that I give to my friends Amato and Fassino - said President Capasso - this award consisting of two slabs made of Vesuvius rocks: a place where my father, Mayor of San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, was one of the architect of the Moti di via Medina, expression of the Resistance in Naples. The commitment of all of us must befor freedom and against all forms of violence and abuse".

On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May Turin turned pink for the 94th edition of the Giro d’Italia. The city was protagonist of the first stop: starting from Venaria Reale and arriving in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. Along the route the cyclists passed Corso Regina Margherita close to the Tricolored Totem for Peace by sculptor Mario Molinari.

Special paints of the Sikkens Akzo Nobel, resistant to temperature of 80 degrees, have been used for the Tricolored Totem for Peace inaugurated in Turin on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the Italian Unity.

The President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano participated in Turin to the party for the 150 years of the Italian Army. The Minister for Defence La Russa and the most important military, civil and religious representatives also attended the ceremony.
For the occasion the Fondazione Mediterraneo, together with the Province and the Municipality of Turino, inaugurated the biggest "tricolore" ever realized in Italy: an artwork by sculptor Mario Molinari.

On May 4, was opened in Turin the Tricolored Totem for Peace by the Italian sculptor Mario Molinari, during the visit of President Napolitano for the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
Great participation of the public for the inauguration ceremony of the monumental work "Tricolored Totem for Peace", including the young people of the civil service, the Moroccan community of Turin, the Moroccan Consul Nourredine Radhi. Numerous messages were received, including that of the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano, the President of the Republic of Malta Gorge Abela, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini and the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso, who applauded this initiative by sharing its high aims.

In a message sent to the Mayor of Turin Sergio Chiamparino, the President ofthe Province of Turin, Antonio Saitta, and the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso, President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano expressed his satisfaction for the realization in Turin of the Tricolored Totem for Peace by sculptor Mario Molinari.
Napolitano expressed "deep appreciation for this important initiative with which Turin wanted to remember the 150th Anniversary of the Italian Unity".

The long journey of the Tricolored Totem for Peace continues: from Rabat to Turin, from Malta to Fez, from Coazze to Naples.
During the inauguration of the Tricolored Totem for Peace in Turin on May 4, between Corso Lecce and Corso Regina Margherita, it took place a symbolic passing of the baton from the hands of the President of the Parliament of Morocco Abdelwahed Radi and of the Mayor of Pescasseroli Nunzio Finamore to those of the Mayor of Turin Sergio Chiamparino.
The mayors of many towns of Piedmont and other cities where the work by Mario Molinari will be realized were present: Coazze May 8 2011, Naples May 20 2011, Malta June 16 2011, and so on... the long journey of the red sail for peace continues.

The party for the Tricolored Totem for Peace by sculptor Mario Molinari with the participation of the young people of the National Civil Service and the Collegno band.
Thousands of colours, a mix of sounds and expressions of joy characterized the inauguration of the Tricolored Totem for Peace in Turin. The young of the National Civil Service in Piemonte, with their t-shirts and caps of the Totem for Peace, well represented the spirit of "unity for peace and peace for unity". The Collegno band, conducted by Maestro Antonio Zizzamia, performed various gears and the Hymn of Mameli during the official opening ceremony.
