LET'S SAVE HUMANITY: THE FONDAZIONE MEDITERRANEO LAUNCHES AN APPEAL TO THE "G20 FOR THE ENVIRONMENT" MEETING IN NAPLES.

The Fondazione Mediterraneo, in the wake of its thirty-year concrete action and the project of the UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD, has launched a heartfelt appeal to the Ministers of the Environment of the countries participating in the G20 in Naples to intervene immediately for a drastic turnaround: "it is the serious risk of leaving the planet no longer suitable for man - said President Capasso - and our children and grandchildren will find themselves a dying land, destroyed by ourselves. Without the agreement to halve CO2 emissions by 2030 and without the definitive abandonment of the use of coal, any proposal appears useless.
In this way - continues Capasso - the goal of keeping the planet's temperature increase within 1.5 ° is unattainable because to respect that limit it is absolutely necessary to halve CO2 emissions by 2030 to zero them by 2050: this irresponsible decision takes place precisely when the climate crisis hits various countries with extreme events, from Germany to Belgium and then Canada, China and so on for a long list. The Fondazione Mediterraneo - concludes President Capasso - since 1989 with the proposal of the UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD has warned about the dangers deriving from a wicked use of the earth and creation. If the main countries of the world do not converge on serious commitments it will be impossible to prevent even more catastrophic consequences”.
Previously, President Capasso during a press conference had on the one hand appreciated the agreement - which resulted after "a very long and intense negotiation" and announced by the Italian Minister for Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani at the Royal Palace in Naples together with John Kerry , envoy of the American government - on the other hand expressed the strong disappointment for the lack of ambition with the block on the issue of decarbonization by "less ambitious" countries that would continue to refuse binding commitments on the indispensable acceleration of this process. Aiming for a grade and a half and decarbonisation within the decade saw the opposition of India and China and therefore the discussion was postponed to October when the G20 of heads of state and government will be held in Rome.

A multi-year memorandum of understanding was signed between the Molinari family and the Fondazione Mediterraneo with which the "MOLINARI HOUSE MUSEUM" in Turin becomes the emotional heritage of the Museum of Peace - MAMT, adding to the network of emotional paths: from PINO DANIELE to the VOICES OF MIGRANTS, from A SEA THREE FAITHS to THE MEDITERRANEAN OF EMOTIONS, from MEMORIES to LEGALITY AND JUSTICE.
The Board of Directors and the International Committee have retraced the main stages of a process that starts from 1997 with the "Totem of Peace" spread in various countries until today with the creation of the United States of the World whose symbol is the "Totem of Peace" by Molinari.

The Foundation will ensure collaboration with the "MOLINARI HOUSE MUSEUM" also for the maintenance of the decor of the building in which it is located.
The building was built by the architect Fenoglio where the Municipality of Turin in 2012 dedicated a plaque to Mario Molinari and, recently, a square to be built in the San Salvario district.

THE FONDAZIONE MEDITERRANEO EXPRESSES ITS CONVENIENCE FOR THE DEATH OF SAID MARGOUL

The president Michele Capasso and the members of the international committee of the Fondazione Mediterraneo express their deep condolences for the disappearance of Said Margoul.
President Capasso, after recalling the relations of fraternal friendship with Said since 1988 and the collaboration in numerous peace and cooperation initiatives, drew the profile of the "dear brother Said" who died at 65 in Marrakech.
"Member of the Mediterranean Foundation and main promoter of the Marrakech office since 1997, Said flew to the sky on the day in which the editing of the docufilm that summarizes 30 years of the Foundation is completed - said the president Capasso with emotion - and together with his wife Zora and to his sons Amine and Sarra, with his wisdom and serenity, he collaborated in the main moments of the Foundation and of the Marrakech office: in particular the delicate ones concerning the dialogue between Islam and the West.
In honor of him we dedicate the 30th anniversary film of the Foundation to him, leaving the initial montage he shared “intact”. To 'brother Said' goes the homage of the members of the Foundation, the directors of the branch offices and the members of the International Committee".

At the conclusion of the commemoration, the International Committee decided to hold a room in the Museum in Said Margoul

THE FONDAZIONE MEDITERRANEO PARTICIPATES IN THE 2021 EDITION OF THE STATES GENERAL OF CULTURE: "THE NEW FRONTIERS OF CULTURE"

The Fondazione Mediterraneo participated in the 2021 edition of the States General of Culture: “The new frontiers of culture” organized by Sole 24 Ore.
The culture and entertainment sector has been one of the hardest hit by the containment measures introduced in the EU to curb the spread of the coronavirus. In recent months, limitations and 'pre-covid' business models have been exposed, but at the same time an incredible opportunity for renewal and reorganization has presented itself, for those who will be able to seize it.
On this occasion, the president Michele Capasso underlined that the profound cultural and technological changes require new professional figures, new investments, and a new widespread digital competence.
Internationalization, transmedia and new skills are some of the elements not to be underestimated for a sector that must transform in order to restart

"SUNDAY OF THE SEA" CELEBRATED AT THE MUSEUM OF PEACE MAMT

The MAMT Peace Museum celebrated the "Sunday of the sea" with the celebration of the Holy Mass dedicated to the migrants who died in the sea. Previously, homage was paid to the "TOTEM DELLAPACE" with the urn of the unknown migrant in the port of Naples.
Every year, 11 July is an opportunity to remember the 1.7 million workers of the maritime industry, but also the many chaplains and volunteers of the "Stella Maris" who continue to offer their support, at every latitude.
"The world has stopped, but ships have never stopped carrying medical equipment and essential medicines from one port to another to support the fight against the spread of the virus", recalled Cardinal Peter K.A. Turkson, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, in the message for the day.
The Day was born in England in 1975 on the initiative of the Apostolate of the Sea, the Mission to Seafarers and the Sailors' Society, but then took on an international and ecumenical dimension. In Italy it was celebrated in a particular way in Savona, with the Holy Mass broadcast live on RaiUno and on the large video walls of the Museum.
Pope Francis, in the Angelus from the Gemelli Hospital, recalled the importance of the sea as a place of solidarity and love
.
On this occasion, the Fondazione Mediterraneo sent a letter to the Minister for Ecological Transition professor Roberto Cingolani requesting the establishment of a "control room" for an integrated governance of issues related to the sea and the development of targeted strategies for its protection.
