The 17th Edition of the Epiphany Concert was held in Naples on 5th January 2012 and traditionally symbolizes the end of annual Christmas celebrations. Music was used as a form of artistic expression to overcome racial, cultural and religious differences in a spirit of universal friendship. The concert was performed at the Teatro Medirerraneo and included famous artists who spread the message of friendship, peace, and solidarity. It also provided an opportunity to deepen ties between different forms of social and religious expression in the Mediterranean area as well as educate people about integration in the areas of cultural, religious and social diversity. Diversity of expression was symbolically represented by a symphony of diverse musical genres. The Epiphany Concert, which has been broadcast by the RAI since 1994, is an expression of commitment to intercultural and inter-religious dialogue as well as an opportunity with which to promote and build greater social awareness around the city of Naples. On that occasion, the Mediterranean Award for Art and Creativity 2011 was presented to the Giuseppe Antonello Leone, Antonio Borrelli, Vittorio Di Pace andAssociazione per la Pace by the President of Fondazione Mediterraneo, Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari. |
