WORK ON THE MEDITERRANEAN OBSERVATORY FOR CHILDREN’S RIGHTS (OMDE) COMMENCES

The ”MEDITERRANEAN OBSERVATORY FOR CHILDREN’S RIGHTS (OMDE) is being set up. It is promoted by the Fondazione Mediterraneo in partnership with the Moroccan NATIONAL OBSERVATORY FOR CHILDREN’S RIGHTS (ONDE) and the  TUNISIAN NATIONAL ORGANISATION FOR INFANCY (ONET). The latter organization serves the aim of dissemination the rights of children as the basis for future of society.

During the meeting in Rabat, the President of the Fondazione MediterraneoMichele Capasso, the director of the Moroccan ONDE Mustafa Denial and the President of the Tunisian Chedly Srarfi defined the organizations bye-laws and programme.

MEETING WITH THE MOROCCAN MINISTER OF TOURISM LAHCEN HADDAD

The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso met with the Moroccan Minister for Tourism . Prof. Lahcen Haddad at the head offices of the Ministry in Rabat.

During the meeting, they agreed on the feasibility of setting up the Dar El Maghrib”, or “Moroccan House” at the seat of the Maison de la Paix in Naples.  The premises will be used to promote tourism, culture and commerce in Morocco, including during the visit of the Forum of Cultures to be held in Naples in 2013.

WORKS START AT THE MAISON DE LA PAIX

Works have begun on the ground floor of the “Maison de la paix”. The premises, which are in the heart of city of Naples, near to the port and the underground line, will host an infopoint  “MED in Naples” and the Maison du Maroc”.

Artchitect Vittorio Di Pace, who is 105 years old, is directing part of the works and will be responsible for the internal furnishings and colours.

THE TOTEM FOR PEACE TO NUNZIATELLA

The Awards Ceremony for the “2012 Mediterranean Award for Institutions” was held on Thursday 31 May 2012, at 3:30 pm, at the NUNZIATELLA MILITARY ACADEMY.

On that occasion, the monumental work, “Totem for Peace” by sculptor Mario Molinari was placed in front of the Main Hall of the School

The Commander of the School, Colonel Bernardo Barbarotto, spoke at the ceremony expressing his personal appreciation for this initiative. The Academy considered it an honour to receive such a coveted award.

Michele Capasso, President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, dedicated the award to all the students attending the ceremony, reminding them of its ethical value at this moment in time.

Pia Molinari, board member of the Fondazione and director of the project “Totem for Peace” also attended the ceremony, together with Vittorio di Pace, senior member of the former pupils of the Nunziatella Academy and member of the Fondazione, and Claudio Azzolini, director of institutional relations for the  Fondazione Mediterraneo.

The students of the 222nd course, dressed in ceremonial uniform for the occasion,  paid tribute to the “Totem for Peace” together with the former pupils led by Giuseppe Catenacci.

THE FONDAZIONE LAUNCHES AN APPEAL FOR SYRIA

After the Hula massacre in which 108 innocent and defenseless civilians were slaughtered – including many children -, the Fondazione Mediterraneo in association with the UN used its own networks to launch an Appeal to force the leaders of Syria to definitively suspend the massacre of its own people.

THE TOTEM FOR PEACE AT THE MAK P NOVICES BALL AT THE NUNZIATELLA ACADEMY

The Totem for Peace by sculptor Mario Molinari became the symbol for the Mak p 100 Novices Ball for the 222nd Course of the “Nunziatella” Military Academy in Naples.

The Commander General o f the Military Academy of Modena, Division General Massimiliano De Casale presided the ceremony, at which civil and military representatives spoke. They included the patroness of the ceremony, Councillor for Culture for the Region of Campania, Prof. Caterina Miraglia.

The Commander of the “Nunziatella” Military Academy, Colonel Bernardo Barbarotto received the “2012 Mediterranean Award”, a replica of the “Totem for Peace” by sculptor Mario Molinari, which was duly conferred by the President of the Fondazione Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari.
President Capasso read out the reasons for the award before approximately 1000 participants.

2012 MEDITERRANEAN AWARD TO THE NUNZIATELLA MILITARY ACADEMY

The  “2012 Mediterranean Award for Institutions” was awarded to the  “NunziatellaMilitary Academy in Naples at two ceremonies that took place to celebrate the traditional Mak p 100 for the pupils of the 222nd Course. The General Commander of the Military Academy of Modena, Division General, Massimiliano De Casale, presided over the ceremony at which the  Prefect of Naples Andrea De Martino, the Mayor of Naples, Luigi de Magistris and representatives from Civil and military Authorities spoke. The Patroness of the ceremony was the Councillor for Culture for the Region of Campania, Prof. Caterina Miraglia.
A solemn ceremony was observed before the banners of the Region of Campania, the Province of Naples and the Municipality of Naples to award the “Mediterranean Award for Institutions”. The Commander of the “Nunziatella” Military Academy, Colonel Bernardo Barbarotto , received the Totem for Peace, a sculpture by Mario Molinari from the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, Michele Capasso, accompanied for the occasion by  Pia Molinari.
