Friend, enlightened politician, avant-garde entrepreneur with a great Love: his TORRE DEL GRECO.
Founder in 2000 with Shimon Peres and other Heads of State of the UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD, he was a convinced supporter until the end.
The positive energy of His enthusiasm will accompany us in supporting future challenges for Torre del Greco, for the Greater Mediterranean, for the United States of the World.

ANNIVERSARIES AT THE MUSEUM: REMEMBERING RAFFAELLA CARRÀ

Visitors and a great influx of links and contacts on the multimedia platform of the Museum of Peace - MAMT for the first anniversary of Raffaella Carrà's death.
President Capasso and Pia Molinari recalled the great artist, regretting that a section of the Museum dedicated to her - named "Raffaella is" - was not realised as initially agreed with Sergio Japino and other collaborators when they visited the Museum in October 2021: it would have been a beautiful tribute in a place that is a World Heritage Site.

14th EDITION OF THE MARE NOSTRUM JOURNALISM AWARDS

The award ceremony for the winners of the 14th edition of the Mare Nostrum International Journalism Awards, organised by Grimaldi Magazine Mare Nostrum and sponsored by the National Order of Journalists, was held at the Grand Hotel Vesuvio in Naples. The ceremony was presented by presenter Massimo Giletti and was attended by personalities from the world of institutions, information and shipping.
The international jury of the Prize, chaired by journalist Bruno Vespa and composed of important personalities from the world of culture and journalism - including the Secretary General of the United States of the World Prof. Michele Capasso - decreed the following winners:

  • Bartolomé Cánovas Sánchez with a paper entitled "El transporte marítimo una solución ante el cambio climático" published in IEEE (Spanish Institute of Strategic Studies) Report No. 12/2022;
  • Mohamed Hannachi with the article "Après le confinement, le grand air" published in "La Presse de Tunisie";
  • Massimo Minella with the article "Il Piano Marshall dei porti: 4.5 billion to transform them into logistics platforms" published in "La Repubblica Affari&Finanza";
  • Fabio Pozzo with the article "More sustainable ships, the Motorways of the Sea as "green corridors"" published in lastampa.it;
  • The students of the Master in Journalism at the University of Bari with various contributions published in their magazine and TV called 'Mediterraneo News';
  • Raquel Villaécija Ruiz with the article "El renacer comercial de las autopistas del mar" published in "El Mundo".

The 'Cavaliere del Lavoro Guido Grimaldi' special prize, established by the Grimaldi family in memory of the founder of the Grimaldi Group, was awarded to journalist Raoul de Forcade, editor of Il Sole 24 Ore.
Prof. Capasso awarded the prize to the students of the University of Bari's Masters in Journalism.

COUNTRY EVENT JORDAN: TOWARDS MORE SOCIAL JUSTICE AND INCLUSIVENESS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN

Labelled as Towards more social justice and inclusiveness in the Mediterranean, the second country event of the EuroMeSCo Annual Conference 2022 will be held in Amman on June 28.
The Fondazione Mediterraneo is a founding member of the EuroMeSCo network and supports and disseminates the main activities.

LA FONDAZIONE MEDITERRANEO ESPRIME PROFONDO CORDOGLIO PER LA MORTE DI RAFFAELE LA CAPRIA

President Michele Capasso, the members of the Governing Board and the International Scientific Committee, the representatives of the autonomous Sections and branch offices, express deep sorrow for the death of Raffaele (Dudu) La Capria: with Gerardo Marotta, Claudio Magris, Umberto Eco and many others a founding member of the Fondazione Mediterraneo.
In 1989, from the very beginning of the Foundation's activities, a profound collaboration was born based on common ideals and respect for timeless values such as those underlying the "United States of the World."
A unique common heritage made up of initiatives and conferences: the great testimony of the vision of a man, who was able to return Naples to its role as a great capital in History and Life.
President Michele Capasso, who was moved, recalled his brotherly friend Dudu and the many encounters that characterized an unrepeatable path of life.

INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR: "THE NEW CHALLENGES OF PROFESSIONALS AND INSTITUTIONS IN THE NEXT DECADE"

An International Seminar was held at the headquarters of the "United States of the World" and the "Museum of Peace" with the theme "The redevelopment of real estate: the new challenges of professionals and institutions in the next decade": organized by the NACA Association in collaboration with the "24 Hours Group."
In the welcoming addresses, Secretary General Michele Capasso and the President of the Human Rights Commission Sen. Giuseppe Lumia stressed the importance at this time of the redevelopment of real estate at the planetary level, in the full respect of ecological conversion.
Speeches included that of Budget Councillor for the City of Naples Pier Paolo Baretta.

SCULPTOR MARIO MOLINARI'S WORK DEDICATED TO BLOOD DONORS

A ceremony was held in Oulx to affix the plaque to the work by sculptor Mario Molinari entitled 'Equilateral', dedicated to blood donors.
Present were the mayors of Oulx, Sauze d'Oulx, Cesana Torinese and other municipalities, as well as the AIDO (Blood Donor Associations) delegations from Bardonecchia, Susa and other valley municipalities.
Professor Evelina Bertero, former mayor of Oulx, coordinated the event.

CONFERENCE OF MEDITERRANEAN MINISTERS OF CULTURE

The "Conference of Mediterranean Ministers of Culture" was held in Naples.
In the final document, the proposal for a "Mediterranean Capital of Culture".
On this occasion, Michele Capasso - President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo and Secretary General of the "United States of the World" - recalled the 33 years of commitment in favour of culture and Euro-Mediterranean dialogue, the role played by the Fondazione Mediterraneo in the establishment of the "Anna Lindh Foundation" and in the institution of a "Mediterranean Capital of Culture", which was decided by the 2248 participants at the Euromed Civil Forum in Naples (10-12 December 1997) in the presence - among others - of the President of the Italian Republic Scalfaro, other Heads of State and Government of various countries as well as representatives of international bodies.
"We are honoured and willing," concluded President Capasso, "to bring our contribution to this initiative, which is necessary for peace and shared development in the Greater Mediterranean and the world".
