THE FONDAZIONE MEDITERRANEO PRESENTS THE WORLD PEACE FORUM AT THE ASSEMBLY AND THE ALIS COUNCIL - ASSOCIATION FOR LOGISTICS AND SUSTAINABLE INTERMODALITY

The President Michele Capasso spoke at the Council and the Assembly of ALIS - Association for Logistics and Sustainable Intermodality - held in Rome at the headquarters of the association.
On this occasion Capasso recalled the commitment of the Fondazione Mediterraneo since 1989 for the motorways of the sea and sustainable intermodality as an essential tool for peace, cooperation and shared development: in short, a fundamental action to form a coalition of shared values and interests on which to base the growth and development of the Euro-Mediterranean region.
"Bringing Italy back to the center of the great European investments that see the Mediterranean as the last positive protagonist of our economy, also increasing commercial traffic with the economic realities of North Africa".
This is one of the strategic lines expressed by the vice-minister and undersecretary at the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport Edoardo Rixi who spoke in Rome at the assembly of ALIS members, chaired by dr. Guido Grimaldi.
"We must have a strong and aggressive line - continued Undersecretary Rixi - on an international scale that shows the route of investment in the Mare Nostrum. Europe today exerts its interests almost exclusively on economies that involve commercial traffic in the north of the continent, often exploiting exclusively the North Sea routes ".
“Our country has an obvious geographical advantage in being a peninsula. We must also translate this into an economic advantage by exploiting the lines of the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The ALIS through its 1.300 member companies, under the hat of intermodal transport, is a valuable interlocutor to make Italy return to be an excellence, because only by making the system can you get flattering results. And the Government is certainly available and next to the business world when, in reality like these - concluded Edoardo Rixi - you are able to make operational proposals that take environmental sustainability into account ".
ALIS President Guido Grimaldi said he was "proud of the Government's interest in the realities expressed by the association" and shared commitment and strategies with Undersecretary Edoardo Rixi.
"The priority - said Grimaldi - is the internationalization of our economy, also aiming to give new impetus to the development of the South as a real added value of the Italian system. And our association was born with the aim of creating a system. With this in mind at the beginning of September I will also meet with the European Transport Commissioner VioletaBulc to discuss the main issues affecting the world of intermodal transport in Europe and the role that Italy must play in this scenario ".
At the conclusion of the meeting the President of ALIS Guido Grimaldi handed over to the Deputy Minister EdoardoRixi a program document of the association.
The Undersecretary for the Presidency of the Council for the “Mezzogiorno” Pina Castiello who underlined the importance of logistics and sustainable intermodality for the South of Italy and for the ports of the South.

The RAI has aired the fine service of Guido Pocobelli Ragosta on the Museum of Peace - MAMT that describes the emotions and the peculiarity of a unique site in the world called "chaos and wonder".

A delegation from Sicily, led by Senator Giuseppe Lumia and composed by proff. Antonio Perino and Giuseppe Valenti visited the headquarters of the “Fondazione Mediterraneo” and the “Museum of Peace – MAMT”.
During the meeting, possible collaborations on the issues of the United States of Europe and the health of women in different Mediterranean cultures were examined.
Guests expressed appreciation for the Museum and for the thirty-year activity of the Foundation and of the Maison des Alliances where they were hosted.

The Museum of Peace - MAMT has opened its doors for the WORLD REFUGEE DAY through the emotional paths "VOCI DEI MIGRANTI".
On 20 June each year the World Refugee Day is celebrated all over the world, an annual event organized by the UN General Assembly, which aims to raise awareness among the public about the condition of millions of refugees and asylum seekers who, forced to flee from wars and violence, leave their loved ones, their homes and all that once was part of their lives. And above all, invite you to never forget that behind each of them there is a story that deserves to be heard. Stories of suffering, of humiliations but also of those who managed to rebuild their own future, bringing their own contribution to the society that welcomed it.
To pursue this goal, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) continues the #WithRefugees campaign, which aims to give visibility to expressions of solidarity towards refugees, amplifying the voice of those who welcome and strengthening the meeting between local communities and refugees and asylum seekers.
#WithRefugees is also a petition, with which UNHCR asks governments to ensure that every refugee child has an education, that every refugee family has a safe place to live, that every refugee can work or acquire new skills to give his contribution to the community. The true petition presented to the UN Assembly by the end of 2018 on the occasion of the adoption of the Global Compact for refugees.
The petition, the stories of refugees and refugees, the solidarity testimonies of representatives of the world of culture, sport and entertainment, and the list and information on the main initiatives planned throughout the country are available on the website of the campaign www.unhcr.it/withrefugees.
Among the events of celebration of World Refugee Day, which will culminate on Wednesday 20 June, but will continue until the end of the month, the meetings and emotional trails of the Museum of Peace - MAMT that have attracted hundreds of visitors and sensitized young people on this topic that "will affect our future if not solved with the values of humanity, acceptance and coexistence. Today, being on the side of refugees is not only an act of humanity, it is above all also an act of courage", said President Michele Capasso.

The president of the ALIS - Logistic Association of Sustainable Intermodality - Guido Grimaldi visited the Museum of Peace - MAMT.
Accompanied by President Michele Capasso Grimaldi expressed appreciation for the initiative and proposed possible collaborations between the Fondazione Mediterraneo and ALIS.
President Capasso accepted the invitation to speak at a meeting of the main ALIS members in Rome on 22 June 2018 to illustrate some possible joint initiatives.
MASSIMO GILETTI PROMOTES AND SUPPORTS THE WORLD PEACE FORUM

Massimo Giletti promotes and supports the WORLD PEACE FORUM. During the meeting for the Mare Nostrum Award, the journalist presented with the President Capasso the event, present various personalities from the political, cultural and entrepreneurial world.
President Capasso hoped that both Giletti and Bruno Vespa - present at the ceremony - could lend a hand to this important peace initiative.

During a cordial meeting, President Michele Capasso discussed with the journalist Bruno Vespa on the possibility of hosting at the Museum of Peace - MAMT (in the section dedicated to "The History of Italy") a multimedia space dedicated to the transmission "Porta a porta", in which to collect with a hypertext system the most significant programs and interviews of the last decades, considered able to represent significant moments in the recent history of our country.
Bruno Vesta appreciated the proposal and expressed admiration for the Museum of Peace - MAMT and for the thirtieth work of the Fondazione Mediterraneo.
AWARD CEREMONY OF THE SEA NOSTRUM AWARD 2018

The award ceremony for the XIth edition of the "Mare Nostrum Award 2018" took place in Rome.
Created by "Grimaldi Magazine" Mare Nostrum Awards is dedicated to the promotion of the Motorways of the Sea. The aim is to enhance this exceptional opportunity for exchanges, links and sustainable development for all the Mediterranean countries.
The prize money of Mare Nostrum Awards amounts, as every year, to 50,000 euros divided among the top five classified this year:
- Manolis Dimellas with the article entitled "Motorways of the sea: when lands become one", published in the Greek online publication "huffingtonpost.gr";
- Silvia Fernandez with the article entitled "The motorways of the sea that the" Brexit "will not stop", published in the Spanish newspaper "El Mundo";
- Samira Hamrouni with the article entitled "And if the solution came from the motorways of the sea", published in the Tunisian weekly "La Presse Business";
- El Mostafa Fakhir with the article entitled "Motorways of the sea: their success will only pass through a complementarity between road transport and maritime transport", published on the Moroccan online magazine "maritimenews.ma";
- Antonella Maffei with video-services broadcast on the "TG REGIONE CAMPANIA".
The special prize "Cavaliere del Lavoro Guido Grimaldi", established by the Grimaldi family, has been recognized by journalist Enzo Cappucci, a Rai journalist and photographer, for his photographic reports, which, through geometric lines of landscapes, horizon cuts, and perspectives of light, return the joy of discovering how much there is still to tell of the sea.
The International Award Jury is made up of leading exponents of journalism and culture. After the death of Folco Quilici, the new president is Bruno Vespa, among others, by Vassiliki Armogeni, Greek journalist of the Efoplistis magazine, Michele Capasso, President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, Diana De Feo, RAI journalist, Mimmo Jodice, photographer, Paul Kyprianou, former President of the RoRo European Union, Rosalba Giugni, president of Marevivo.
Luciano Bosso, journalist and director of the magazine Grimaldi Magazine Mare Nostrum, is the Secretary of the Award.
On this occasion, President Capasso presented the latest activities of the Fondazione Mediterraneo and the Museum of Peace - MAMT: in particular the WORLD PEACE FORUM.
The 12th edition of the Mare Nostrum Awards will be launched in September 2018 and will end in April 2019.
