The President of Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso awarded the Mediterranean Award "Honour Medal" to the Mayor of Pescasseroli Nunzio Finamore for the contribution given to the realisation at Pescasseroli of the Totem of Peace created by the Turin sculptor Mario Molinari.

On the occasion of EUROPARC 2010 at Pescasseroli – an event which brought together representatives of the Parks of European Countries and for the inauguration of the “TOTEM FOR PEACE”, the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise was awarded the “Angelo Vassallo” Mediterranean Award for Environment and Co-Development for its actions aiming at protecting the environment and nature.
The international jury of the “Mediterranean Award” decided to grant this category of the awards to the memory of the Mayor of Pollica, Angelo Vassallo, who was barbarously assassinated on 5 September last year, paying tribute to his actions to affirm legality in defence of the environment and sustainable development.

The Mediterranean Award for the Environment and Co-Development 2009 was presented to Folco Quilici at the Awards Ceremony held in the Complesso Museale at Santa Maria La Nova.
The Fondazione Mediterraneo made the Award to the film-maker and writer for his work in disseminating the culture of the sea, which is an example for future generations and educational tool with which to disseminate love for the sea and conservation of its habitat.
